Why Battlefield Hardline will launch in 2015

Today we are announcing that Battlefield Hardline will launch in early 2015. Obviously, this is big news, so I’d like to address why we’re making this change.

Back at E3, we launched a beta for Hardline — we wanted to not only show you the game, but to let you play it for yourselves. Millions of you jumped in and had a great time.  As a result, the Visceral Games team learned a lot from players about what they wanted in the game. We’ve been poring over the data and feedback, and have already been putting a lot of it right into the game and sharing it directly with you.

This feedback also spurred us to start thinking about other possibilities and ways we could push Hardline innovation further and make the game even better. The more we thought about these ideas, the more we knew we had to get them into the game you will all be playing. However, there was only one problem. We would need more time. Time that we didn’t have if we decided to move forward with launching in just a couple of months.

We decided that the right thing to do was to take more time to ensure Hardline is the best, most innovative Battlefield experience we can give to you, our fans.

Here are a few of the things the new timing will allow us to accomplish:

1. Multiplayer Innovation: Coming out of our E3 beta, internal focus tests, and work with our community, we have received a lot of great Multiplayer thinking. We’re going to be adding some new feature ideas direct from the community that will evolve the cops and criminals fantasy into a truly unique Battlefield Multiplayer experience.

2. Single Player Story Depth: In order to ensure our Single Player experience delivers on player expectations, we’re spending more time polishing our core features, as well as adding a few new ones that will support a deeper “crime revenge” story experience.

3. Stability: This has been a focus for our team since day one and we’re going to be using the extra time to continue to optimize the game for a stable launch. We have learned a lot from Battlefield 4, are continuing to learn from our Community Test Environment and will learn more from another Hardline beta. More time allows us to surface issues that the team can attempt to fix prior to launch.

We are doing all of this for one reason. Because we want Battlefield Hardline to be the best game it can be, and so that we can create the best environment for a smooth launch for our players. We will give you updates on our progress and we’ll regularly share updates along the way via Battlefield.com/Hardline as well as the Battlefield social channels.

In addition to the ongoing development of Hardline, it’s important to note that the DICE teams continue to drive Battlefield 4. We continue to explore new opportunities for improvements and we are still releasing new content, including “Dragon’s Teeth,” the fourth expansion pack that launches worldwide on July 29, and “Final Stand” coming later this year.  We remain committed to giving you the best BF4 experience possible.

Karl Magnus Troedsson
DICE VP & Group GM

One of the biggest things our clan noticed during the beta was that there was really no true cops and robbers experience. One easy way to correct that would be to implement something EA already has used in MOHAA. Then it was called Breakthrough. CoDUO and CoD2 called it liberation. The idea would work perfectly for BFH because when players are shot after being killed they re-spawn in prison and have to be broken out to continue the fight. If all of one team or another ends up in prison the team with members out side wins. This is an obvious way to go for BFH and our clan was more than a little surprised to see that there was nothing like this in the game. I certainly hope that with the extended time we can expect a game mode along this line. If it’s a mode than those that like it can play and those that prefer something else wont be forced in to it. As many of us already pre-ordered this game the additional wait ought to be worth the $70 and nearly a year wait.

I’m having trouble understanding why no co-op?? They said they’re listening to the players, however, a great co-op can make or break a game in itself (zombie mode on COD). I thought it was obvious thats what gamers wanted. I’ve gone so far as to purchase games specifically because they had a good co-op (Army Of Two, Gears Of War). There’s nothing better than high fiving your buddy after an intense mission. Noone sits alone and plays games anymore. And if you are alone, you play online. I figured a few years back, that all the new games of the future would have co-op. Boy was I wrong, and extremely dissappointed. I should be in EA marketing lol

I know not a lot of people are excited for this game but i played it at E3 and have to say had quite a bit of fun. Same good battlefield experience and i like the more objective based game play and though it is similar to payday you r going against real people not AI. Best of luck in your work visceral games.

Ok let first I know you guys aren’t going to agree, but think about it. Get rid of the heavy weapons on trucks and helicopters. Go back to regular rifles and pistols with attachments, but have a large selection of them. Make it so you can edit your camo and outfits by parts. Add more police car types and cars. Fix the animation of the flashing light on the police cars., make them a faster pattern that change like real ones.
Make it so you can shoot someone though a window. Add the movement of ducking while driving. Make a game on skill and working with the weapon you unlocked at the time. Add opening doors, example use a door shield. Add the one thing no one has done, hanging from a helicopter on a rope to drop people on buildings or hang shoot. Helicopters should take small arms damage based on part hit.
The last part add night and weather which is random. This way you have to change your load out in different games. Maybe more buildings to hide in or team up.

I have bought your games from battlefield 1942 and through battlefield 4. I have played the beta hardline and I wasn’t impressed. It’s the same game re skinned, same easy techniques to camp a spot and take a point or take the money. As of now I haven’t pre ordered it. I am losing hope in one of the only games I loved.

    There’s my feedback

  • Jizmak15 09.02.14 at 03:37

This game doesn’t look that great, and I hope I’m wrong and it turns out to be awesome. This game leaked weeks before E3 and it didn’t even trend on Twitter or YouTube, that says it all. I know why their changing the release date, it’s because Destiny is going to crush all its competitors that are releasing around the same time. This includes that’s that horrible excuse for a COD game Advance Warfare. I will say this, if this game doesn’t out sell Advance Warfare this franchise is in trouble. Why didn’t they just make a new Medal of Honor.

  • Skypersia 08.28.14 at 20:32

    DICE!
    SAVE YOURSELF!!
YOU MUST SELL HARDLINE AS DLC!!! OR YOU WILL LOSE YOUR SOUL!! YOU WILL LOSE BATTLEFIELD AS MEDAL OF HONOR!!!

AND THAN YOU MUST MAKE BATTLEFIELD BAD COMPANY!! REALLY WELL!!
THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE OTHERWISE YOU WILL LOSE LOT OF COSTUMERS!!!

    YOUR CHOICE!!

This was a little bit of a let down for me!
To me it is seriously starting to resemble counterstrike and it’s style of game play, ann man do I hate that game.
when i first heard about this game I was drawn to the possibility that it was suppose to be very similar to GTA 5s main bank raid so I was immediately drawn in, GTA 5 in my book is the best game to date, for story, playability and of course open world is second to none I don’t think any game comes close but if i had to pick 2nd BF4 but earlier version for more destructibility shame it got reduced!, I will never understand why they remove perfectly good parts of a game only to substitute it for waste of time dialogues or over worked cut scenes, what makes these people think that is what any one wants! after all this is about playing not watching! hence the word game-play lol.
Anyway I can only hope that this delay is due to removing any essence of counterstrike and to continue using BF4 graphics and styles to enhance this game.
By the way here’s one for the DEVELOPERS of this game, there are many people out there that do not like BF because of one reason, they say the maps are too big, personally that’s one of the things I love about this game at least I get to live a little longer lol, they say you can’t please every one all of the time! well that’s complete hogwash Yes you can, you just have to put some extra thought into it lol , This can be simply rectified by introducing some smaller maps for those close quarter players lol this will entice those players over to BF, I speak of those who play on the likes of COD black ops and ghost ect’, again counterstrike style game play, yuk! but as they say different strokes for different folks lol Just a thought.
See you on the battle field peps :)
    Peace out.

  • a11star03 08.18.14 at 04:27

Im totally ok with the game coming out later. I understand that you want to make the game the best it could be. I have loved battlefield hardline since i saw some gameplay. Though you should add in some things like more weapons, attachments, and gear for both cops and criminals. Also I think that when you get a kill on the police team your player should shout out something like “dropped the thug.” And when your on the robber side he would say for example “F@$# the police.” On that note you should add in some emotion into the game. Add something like when a team mate dies next to you your player should shout “NOOOO!!!” or something. I think with out these the game would feel kind of soulless and empty. Also you should be able to customize what your player looks like kinda like in Call of Duty: Ghost. Other than that thats it, I hope you take my thoughts into consideration and i believe that you can make Battlefield: Hardline one of the best games of 2013-2016. Good luck! :)

HOW TO MAKE BATTLEFIELD: HARDLINE A BETTER GAME

The problem with Battlefield: Hardline is that it seems like DLC. It does not differentiate itself enough from BF4 to be viewed as a stand alone title, let alone the next installment into the Battlefield series.

    1. I noticed (as well as others) that the graphics of Battlefield: Hardline looks like they are downgraded from Battlefield 4. Now I know that both BF4/BFH are both designed on the Frostbite 3 engine, but Hardline looks more cartoon-ish. I feel that if Visceral Games/Dice can’t achieve better graphics than BF4 on BFH they should at least maintain that same level fidelity from BF4 on BFH.

    2. The running style/animation is not great. It looks like the character model is a juggernaut or something. I know that Visceral/DICE decided to increase the speed at which the character can run, but it’s not just how slow the character is traveling it’s how “off” it looks when the character model runs. It’s the way the character tilts the gun down and runs as if he’s carrying a ton of gold on his back. Keep the running style/animation from BF4 or BF3 it’s quicker/faster and more useful in sticky engagements.

    3. Survivalists is a joke. It should be removed simple because it takes away from teamwork. Every operator will have this gadget equipped along with the medic bag/health pack. Also it’s very gimmicky and “noob-like”. Have you guys every heard of “second chance” or “Last stand”?

    4. Interrogation: When a player interrogates the opposing player, the opposing player’s teammates appear on the map to the interrogator and the teammates of the interrogator for a couple of seconds. I think that only the interrogator and his squad should be able to see the enemy players nearby not the whole team(allies).

    5. Increase the number of accessible vehicles maybe? Their are multiple vehicles scattered around the Battlefield Hardline Beta that looks as if their in driving condition, but cannot actually be driven. At least make more civilian vehicles accessible or show criminals/police players breaking in the car and hot-wiring them. The animation doesn’t have to be fancy but at least let players be able to access these vehicles when certain vehicles are taken.

    6. Customization like character model skin color and/or attire.

These are the top six suggestions that I think can improve Battlefield: Hardline. There are many more tweaks that i think should be added in this game to make it a somewhat “TRUE” Cops vs Criminals game. Like [NO parachutes because it doesn't really fit the theme] [NO mini-guns on helicopters] [Make PDW's all kit weapons] Many Battlefield fans don’t like this particular theme to begin with. So if you’re going to make a Cops/Criminal game you need to go all, just like how Dice goes all in with their Military style shooters and Star Wars: Battlefront.

    • a11star03 08.18.14 at 04:29

I totally agree with everything you said.

    • scavaro13 08.19.14 at 16:40

Survivalist Amazing idea.. how many times can a player get screwed over and left behind? tons. it happens a lot in bf4 and bf3. the ability to spawn alive again to help a teammate with a hidden enemy is priceless. Battlefield hardline its self is moderately close to a bf4 dlc. but I can say the same about BF3. they are the same game just new guns and maps. (and bf4 with bugs). Interrogation is a fun aspect showing the more real world scenario, with stun guns, take downs and more. MP is more than just a run and gun job which the nubs would like. Battlefield and dice have really thought long and hard on how to make their next game amazing. the vehicle access should be more I agree but the other aspects are perfect,

Okay. So I am sure no one will actually read this but I thought I would voice my opinion anyway. Reads that it will now come out in 2015… :) Thinks Oh yeah time to improve. COD AW changed their graphics from Titanfall lookalike to Kevin Spacey’s face>Bf4 graphics in 2 FUCKING MONTHS. Thinks that BF:H can do it in 5. Reads list of new things they will accomplish ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! FIX THE FUCKING GRAPHICS YOU UNBELIEVABLE IDIOTS. Every single person I know says they will either stick to BF4 or go to COD because the guns and attachments are copy and pasted WAHT THE FUCK and if you can buy them then why do you still have the two types of every grip?! Bugs: floating miniguns should theoratically be cool but they aren’t… and Graphics. Congratulations for going back and making battlefield 3. …no actually worse than that congratulations for making battlefield 2.5 OH and another entirely THE HITBOX! Jesus you call that new hitbox you have next gen? Rust has a better hitbox than you and if you count the number of developers it is technically an indie game. OH and over powered things. YOU CAN REVIVE YOURSELF?! WHAT THE FUCK MAN?! Oh and uh when was the last time you saw someone use a knife? because last time I checked the revive pin was like a 1 hit spammable ranged melee that can take on shotguns at point blank. And what were you thinking with interrogation? I can be minding my own business somewhere else, someone on my team is melee’d and bam I am fucked. OH and I am sorry but how exactly is Star wars battlefront more worth Dice’s time than BF:H?! Because other than some new concepts overall I don’t think visceral can make a multiplayer. And another thing $70 regular price… are you fucking kidding me. ANOTHER 10 FOR ANOTHER 9 BATTLEPACKS!? I am sorry to have to resort to a rage filled message in some blog but DICE is such a great company and I don’t want it to go down the shitter. And sure you can say the following players had a blast but it isn’t a good sign when a lot of youtubers either have to have another whole video about the bad parts, or say don’t pre-order or admit they aren’t sure if it is even worth your money. This game is treading on thin ice. Especially after a competetor COD has a new game with everything new and better graphics and better advertising. So all I have to say is that I want this to be a good game. But you guys have to be careful.

    • MiksuBoyy 08.12.14 at 18:52

Its so new u fucking idiot bf3 hadded problems at the first but not anymore and bf4 doesnt lag anymore like that and i have one thing to say COD sucks!! Peace✌️✌️

    • MiksuBoyy 08.12.14 at 18:54

And COD is same game new name and bf has like 133 weapons and bo and others only 30 or something like that

    • JamesBlonde12 08.30.14 at 14:46

Ok. So i hear you, but know hear from where dice and I are coming from

      1. Beta – hey what is a beta actually mean well really its a cte. And guess what ITS NOT THE FULL GAME, that clearly means that you getting a taster. Stop getting so lary, if it was perfect in the beta it would be THE PERFECT GAME and everyone would play it! But its not perfect, because its a beta, and we support the franchise because its crazy yet includes realism, drama, tension, levolution and those only in bf4 moments. If everyone knew or thought logically and more reasonable cod aw would not have the funds to be produced cause no one would buy it. Dipshit!

      2. Survivalist – i see the peoblem with this you inject it into your thigh and run off like nothing happened. OP as hell! So instead of getting annoyed support the idea of reduccing health to only 10 and to regen loser than usual!?

      3. If all gamers were not so self hearted we’d give good feedback and guess what. Dice do listen to us we are the community and we are here to make it the game we want and love!

      4. DLC????? – How the heck is it sold off in the apperance of a DLC. A DLC is short for downloadable content. Hang on if you were to sell this off as downloadable content you would yourself ruin this game and then you would complain because they listened to your lame negitive comments which arnt constructive.

      5. Cod aw – Why?!?!?! Its sickining for you to say that. Its just cod bo2 a little more futuristic with exoskelotons, a good game with the same old same new stuff added a overly addicting yet over rated game. Which is why its taking so long for people to get good grades because theyre THICK!

So in my conclusion dont hate on dice and vescerial go play cod and lose that tension, drama and only in bf4 moments because beleive me cod is good but in all gamemodes its practically tactics and stealth nothing more nothing less. But it is what some people like yet you can do that in bf only you can do more. Guns blazing! Stealth sniper! Crash and burn money collecter! Experianced driver! Amazing ninja knife expert! This is battlefield! Learn and live it or leave.

  • AfterShaveMike1 08.07.14 at 03:39

I was reading these comments and saw something that I just needed to voice my opinion on. A gamer commented that he thought the game needed some zombie modes and levels or what not, to almost make a copy of call of duty’s zombie levels ,which I thought were brilliant when they came out. Having said that when bf3 came out I was play cod up until the bf3 disc entered my xbox. Sense then I became a die hard fan of bf and have not played a cod game sense then. Yes haters of dice I understand there are a lot of aggravating things that need to be changed and at times you want to walk over to the dice corporation and grab some one by the neck and strangle them. I also think its bull shit to be able type your credit card number in and have everything unlocked or to shoot a whole clip into a player and they shoot you once and your dead etc. So the another player commented flipping out say this player was stupid and basically bashing hard core on this kid telling him to go back to playing cod. I AfterShaveMike1 do understand this jerks point of view it would be like basically taking cods idea and copying it onto there game( not that zombies on a bf game wouldn’t be amazing I personally like that idea of giant maps like bf and waves of zombies with all the viechles and such that bf would bring to the table they would just have to tweek it so it was different from cod all together) but in my opinion haven’t they already done that with bf hard line? Like I said before I love bf, they evolved warfare on the game console to a whole new level. I had been saying for years to my friends while we were gaming that I wished some one would come up with a game like bf I love what dice has invented and I can’t wait to see it grow, but in my opinion hard lines concept is like that of grand theft auto. Granted the last GTA game I played was San andraous ( not sure how that’s spelled). Yes I understand that bf hard line is not free roaming its ware fare with cops and robbers which to me just sounds cheesy as hell, to me its still the same concept and I don’t think that dice should have taken this route at all. With all that being said I will be trying the game out because I didn’t play the beta and hopefully dice pulled it off but in my mind until I’ve played the game my opinion will stay the same I don’t think I’ll like the game.

  • QuickDrawAZ 08.05.14 at 06:27

I think this is a good move. Dice, please don’t screw up like last time, I’m looking forward to a better Battlefield in 2015. I’m also excited for Final Stand. Good luck Dice.

  • sloberingbaboon 08.04.14 at 17:34

when does the open beta get released and how do I get it???

  • BROWNSPARTAN420 08.04.14 at 15:15

This is bs reasoning, first off if you were not ready to even have a game worth playing, then why did you have a launch date in the first place? Battlefield 4 is a mess and the hit system sucks, you can shoot a guy 100 times and he hits you with a desert eagle one time and you die. Your products are lack luster at best, then you dupe all the people out of their money on a pre order for a game coming out soon, then magically instead of going head to head with Call of Duty you decide to cop out and say the game is not ready, when chances are you just did a piss poor job of coding once again. The fans are sick of battlefield and honestly I think your not going to see any good sales for this game for disrespecting us loyal fans with this lame excuse for a game delay.

  • vIxV4LKYR1ExIv 07.31.14 at 20:41

I’m glad to hear its coming out next year. Taking your time. I’d rather it come out later with less issues that sooner with lots of issues.

  • ryanpbell324 07.29.14 at 04:41

Y is everyone hating on bf hardline. Many of you are saying that this was a step back but it is more like a leap forward. It isn’t like a dlc. They have completely changed battlefield. Stop hatin

    • vIxV4LKYR1ExIv 07.31.14 at 20:45

Ignore ‘em, their mindless bloggers that type just to hear the click of their keyboards. It looks like an intense game.

  • Insta9ib 07.29.14 at 00:38

I think this has been their intention all along, for them its a win/win situation aka damage control.
By delaying the game they dont have to compete with FIFA, COD or Destiny this fall and at same time give the false impression to customers that they dont want to rush the release.

Page 5 in the book ‘Marketing and decieve’. (Irony)

    • Darude-Sandst0rm 08.08.14 at 08:04

EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING! I think what they did was give it that launch time from E3, but they intended for it to come out early 2015 to make them look like the hero’s and not get smashed by the other sales. At the end of the day EA come out looking like hero’s because they “delayed” a game that was meant to come out later.

  • SebastianQM2295 07.28.14 at 21:54

    Visceral Games,

I have liked Battlefield Hardline from the first moment in which I saw it and on having played the Beta much more, it is obvious that it is a Beta, but it seems to me that the suits are slightly incomplete and simple ( obviously in the first-person camera ), I would like to suggest to add a watch in the wrist of every agent of all the classes, they are details that are grateful if they are added, for that in the end we play with two arms and a weapon, it will give him one more touch of Policemen and Thieves of L.A.

I do these suggestions in order that it has in the list “suits”, I will be grateful for it very much and many players too ( More details in the suits and character customisation ).

Then I suggest to modify the suits of the following classes:

    Cops: Operator and Profesional.
    Criminals: Operator, Enforcer and Profesional.

Finally I would like to suggest to modify the way of taking the hilt ( The position of the thumb ).

I hope that there are also several camouflages for the weapon that it is something that i like much Battlefield, and certainly camouflages for every agent.

It looks like to me a very good decision to delay Battlefield Hardline for 2015. A greeting and very much spirit, you are doing an excellent work improving the feedback and insurance that in 2015 we will have an incredible Battlefield

  • Moki82 07.28.14 at 16:40

Ok, so you are telling us that EA had another unstable crappy launch coming to us.
Or is this PR BS in order to ramp up pre-orders to a level that shareholders are satisfied with?
What about the pledge that DICE would never charge money for map DLC? That you made during BF:BC2. Well we all know about “premium”, that promise did not even last to the next game. http://www.computerandvideogames.com/241306/dice-well-never-charge-for-battlefield-maps/
Removed mod-support in order to sell us moded game versions as full “AAA”-titles. Hardline is a terrible idea to start with cops & robbers with RPGs, and no vehicular combat to speak of. Yeah fucking lol! No I will not have it. To bad I never will buy a game from EA again. Mirrors edge 2 and Battlefront ware a bit interesting. Guess I’ll have to borrow those games from a friend, if I decide I want to play them. I am done with EA. Any gamer in their right senses should see the EA logo as a no-buy symbol. Take that to your shareholders.

You’ll probably make more money if you went with a 10$ Bf4 – BF:H upgrade option. That is the maximum I will spend on a mod of a game that aggravated the shit out of me for the last year.

    • BROWNSPARTAN420 08.04.14 at 15:19

They will not even fix bf4 and port it for controller support, so I am with you about not buying anymore crappy products, they try to pass betas off as launch quality, when you have games like Transformers Universe in open beta right now that runs better than anything BF4 has offered.

    • QuickDrawAZ 08.05.14 at 06:41

Actually there was vehicle warfare in the beta and saying that Hardline is a “mod” is like saying Cod is a combat simulator. Some things I sort of agree with you on but seriously, you hate on a game that still has months before it comes out. Thats like looking at a frame of a new car and saying “I hate it, I will never buy this POS”. I personally enjoyed the Beta, it was a refreshing change. I’m tired of the same BS from every game. You obviously can’t see that since you’ve got your head so far up your a*s. Give it a chance. Unless you’re a 12 year old then go back to Cod.

  • FeatherSton3 07.27.14 at 04:56

I don’t know about anyone else but this game seems to be more “Cops vs Terrorists” rather than “Cops vs. Robbers”. Since when do robbers always have helicopters and rpgs and stuff? Are we going to be able to interact with lots of the environment, i.e. open most doors, climb most buildings. Hopefully the maps are a lot bigger than the one used on the beta. Maybe this will be the Battlefield multiplayer game that I won’t enjoy, and co-op and campaign is what I will look forward to the most.
P.S. I hope the A.I. system is super super advanced and has been put to the front of the attention. I want a game that doesn’t have stupid bots.

  • zanychelly 07.27.14 at 00:02

After BF4, EA and DICE has to nuild a really good Battlefield game, and and don’t want a reskin of BF4 with “Police” decals.
I m not buying this, and i’m not buying any other Battlefield until i see:
1 – The MAP designe become relevant again
2 – Less weapons, better Balnce, more fun
    3 – Good net code
4 – Less shity DLC, shorter time to unlock thing, and less micro-transactions like paid unlocks
5 – Rent-a-Server being well implemented and not the bullshit that it is right now with a people kicking others for playing well, and EA “turning off” oficial servers

I’m really done, i don’t play BF4 since February, and i’m hardly coming back.

  • SebastianQM2295 07.25.14 at 15:34

It looks like to me a very good decision to delay the Battlefield Hardline fot 2015. A greeting and very much spirit, you are doing an excellent work improving the feedback and insurance that in 2015 we will have an incredible Battlefield.

  • insurgentt 07.25.14 at 01:14

Translation: EA executive management is concerned that the backlash over the rushed release of BF4 may endanger their bonuses for the current year.

EA execs received bonuses the year that BF4 was released. The only way I will even consider giving EA any more money for ANY game is if they use their bonuses to issue refunds to all Premium members, and give all BF4 players a Premium membership. I don’t know how those execs could go around spouting PR lies and sleep at night knowing how hard they have screwed over their customers, then wake up in the morning and lie some more about how they thought BF4′s launch was “unacceptable”. They need to OWN UP AND STOP LYING TO YOUR CUSTOMERS.

    • BROWNSPARTAN420 08.04.14 at 15:22

Exactly, they ripped us all off and want us to spend more? sorry to say but I might be going back to call og duty, sure a guy might be able to stab me from a mile away, but when i shoot him at least he dies.

  • jadenisthegunner 07.25.14 at 00:49

When is the beta coming out

  • IcoNicQuicKShot 07.24.14 at 22:46

Sounds good, make this game amazing.
    My suggestions*
    ·No airbrust
·A free roam where you have all players kill each other or steal stuff and take hostages, all that criminal stuff
    ·Free4All mode
·When doing any mode make people there and once the gun shots start coming have them haul ass and still killable, don’t be like AC4 black flag where you die if you kill civilians/harmless people
·Zombie survival mode – team up with players and kill all zombies and at the end haul ass to the evacuation area so you don’t get blown up by the nuke
    · Way cooler looking gun camo, cause the BF4 gun camo were not to amazing(not including misc) but the other ones were awful then they looked in the preview, in action no thanks
    ·Way better character customization
    · A second story mode that’s different with zombies (it can be a short story)
BTW never played beta, so don’t complain if that’s already in the game comment people, I wouldn’t know. That’s all for now.

    • Scwarzenegger_19 07.25.14 at 17:30

WTF u piece of shit, are u dumb or something? Are u fucking trying to turn this shit on a cal of duty, go post that shity ideas on Call of Duty’s forum u litle fuck. Zombies mod, on a Battlefield?? WTF DUDE THIS IS COPS AND CRIMINALS U FUCKTARD…..god sake…..

      • Scwarzenegger_19 07.25.14 at 17:32

And fucking cooler looking camos, THIS IS ABOUT KILLING AND MAKING HEISTS N STUFF, NOT PAINTING WEAPONS TO LOOK “COOL”………

        • IcoNicQuicKShot 07.26.14 at 00:26

Oh so what it’s my opinion, I want cooler camo so what, you don’t have to bitch about it.

      • IcoNicQuicKShot 07.26.14 at 00:33

Damn it’s just a comment, I’m not expecting them to do all the zombie shit. If you gonna say stuff like that how about you go fuck off.

    • Rictacles 07.25.14 at 18:11

this is prob the STUPIDEST post on here… jesus, youre just making it harder for them to sift through actual suggestions and not this bullshit… kill yourself

      • IcoNicQuicKShot 07.26.14 at 00:35

How would you like it if someone said kill yourself, you must be a real fanboy if you really want them to get shit done. No I ain’t killing myself you jerk.

      • IcoNicQuicKShot 07.26.14 at 00:42

Your comment aint helping anyone either now is it? No it’s not. Fuck off cause its just a game.

      • IcoNicQuicKShot 07.26.14 at 02:06

You really don’t know your sounding even more stupid, stupid, this is you ” your post is so stupid, they need to make progress so go kill yourself ” most stupid thing thing I have ever seen in this entire battlefield blog. Do you see your stupid level is OVER 9000 !!!! Think before you post stupid.

    • IcoNicQuicKShot 07.26.14 at 00:48

I knew my comment would have gotton complains, but it’s not really complaining cause it is way more bitching about 1 comment.

      • vIxV4LKYR1ExIv 07.31.14 at 21:05

Just get off the page if you can’t even post shit that is logical sit.

    • NFXDrew 07.26.14 at 09:36

i take it you like zombies? But i doubt they’d put it in because they havent done it in any other battlefields and personally i think it would be the same zombies as COD or a bit diff.

      • IcoNicQuicKShot 07.26.14 at 21:18

Yeah I like zombies, but I never play COD zombies, I play a game called Dead Island, but these other 2 idiots complain to much that it’s gonna be COD all over again or that is the stupidest comment, which it’s not. Thank you for not being a jerk like the other 2.

    • vIxV4LKYR1ExIv 07.31.14 at 20:57

WTF???? So turn it into Call of Duty??? That’s you’re solution? Battlefield is different, Battlefield is unique. I’ve read some stupid posts about Battlefield but this tops them all. Go play COD, its where you belong.

  • Mercenary_AK-47 07.24.14 at 19:34

It would be interesting to kidnap people on the street, invade a building and kidnap people in their work or in their homes to make them hostage.

    • Doge_Senpai 07.26.14 at 12:04

That’s a brilliant idea dude. Then you could have limited respawns and then you can get more tickets if you get hostages. Then the cops have to release all the hostages and prevent the criminals from taking hostages.

  • CrookBond 07.24.14 at 19:02

I think if this game has features like stealing roadside vehicles and have the ability to break in to any vehicle in the map and not just Spawn vehicles this will improve the gaming experience many folds.

    • TakeItDownTown 07.26.14 at 00:41

That sounds awesome i hope they do put that in there good idea man

    • Doge_Senpai 07.26.14 at 12:02

      Yes! That would be awesome.

  • KING_JOHN2 07.24.14 at 11:56

Hey That works at least we know they aint rushing it

  • EnclaveSigma 07.24.14 at 11:30

You know if you dumb asses didn’t complain and just let the damn game come out earlier and be done with it. They could have moved on to better and bigger things like BadCo3 or Bf5, but nooo lets say it’s just like payday and complain. Fuck I want this game but the faster the pop this shit out the faster we might get BFBC3 then you can complain.

    • KING_JOHN2 07.24.14 at 11:58

Whats the point of playin a broken game it might float your boat but not mine

      • jonny91289 07.24.14 at 16:41

Well we’ve been playing broken battlefield games for a couple of years now …. I won’t be disappointed if they do it again. Anyway this isn’t a game … it’s a reskin of battlefield 4 … this could’ve been dlc but they want more money

    • CrookBond 07.24.14 at 19:03

I love this game and I want it perfect!

    • IcoNicQuicKShot 07.24.14 at 22:11

      We gotta fanboy over here.

  • Darryl_B 07.23.14 at 23:28

I will not buy any more from EA until they get their ass in gear and make more single player packs not everyone wants to play multi player great for those that want to good for them but to H-ll with the rest of us that spent our $$$$$ on the game we can not play and will not be forced to play online so no more $$$$$ until they get their act together .,,,,,,,,,,,, Darryl

    • Doge_Senpai 07.26.14 at 12:08

It is mainly a multiplayer focused game, not really renowned for the singleplayer (Except maybe BC2 and possibly BF3)… but i see what your point is and you do have a point.

  • FELIXKILLS 07.23.14 at 23:27

    Wow….. VICE CITY WHO???

  • DOGLOAF 07.23.14 at 21:47

Hallelujah. I wasn’t planning on buying it this year simply because it’s being released too early for my liking. Hoping they focus a little more on making it feel like cops and robbers, which is what it sounds like they’re doing. The beta was good fun, brought back some of that classic feeling entertainment that seems to be missing in most modern online FPS games. Tasers, baseball bats, tight firing spread, ak47s, emblem sprays, smaller chaotic map layouts, it’s over the top battlefield and I love it.

  • ARPOGx 07.23.14 at 20:25

Please DICE, make a player movment similar to BF3. It was perfect. Thank you.

  • Foo555 07.23.14 at 19:25

Question: I have pre ordered the game on amazon, but before the release date was changed. Will the order have been cancelled?

  • ChuckieJEL 07.23.14 at 17:16

I am already playing battlfield 4

  • guniu 07.23.14 at 16:17

One question though, why this message was delivered by Karl Magnus Troedsson, a DICE VP? I thought this game was from Visceral Games…

  • DRIP187 07.23.14 at 16:14

Smart move on there part take long as yall need had more fun than i have in a bf game in a while dont pre order dont buy it haters gonna hate bitches gonna bitch. All those up here talkin smack u will see all ya friends payin it and then u will to go play another army still which sick of and im sure many others as well.Cod got a new game coming take your crying to them this is a different style of fps which is good. The driving the street style guns is fun as long as its not overloaded less is more that a great motto when it comes to bf so all those who say they are done quit posting on battlelog go some where else why do keep coming up here blasting the game leave room for peole who like the game and want to speak on the game on how to make it more fun

    • Su1c1dal Sc1on 07.24.14 at 00:57

My head hurts from trying to read this stupidity.

  • AngryDave-UK 07.23.14 at 15:05

Well really it’s Visceral learning from EA/DICE’s mistake.

  • tglendinning 07.23.14 at 14:49

Personally I thought the beta was dreadful. I know betas are no where near a final product, but the game itself was so uneventful. The city was bleak. If you’re going to close down a section of a city, it shouldn’t feel like an empty mall. That’s very unrealistic. The mechanics were okay. The modes shown were okay. I walked away from the beta thinking to myself, I would rather play a glitched BF4 before this and the whole point was to succeed those errors even if a new developer took the reigns for this spin-off. I will definitely not buy this game and I know I’m not the only one.

    • DiamondMolecule 07.23.14 at 15:05

Honestly, I think the BFH Beta was the vest time I’ve had on a Battlefield game in years.
@EA @Visceral @DICE Keep up the good work!

  • scavaro13 07.23.14 at 10:15

What does this mean for us who have pre ordered the game via gamestop?

    • Rob_Nomad 07.23.14 at 18:13

you learn not to pre-order videogames :P maybe they’ll also stop creating silly exclusive pre-order bonuses

    • IcoNicQuicKShot 07.24.14 at 22:13

You gotta wait longer, that’s what. Ha

  • alessandromanno 07.23.14 at 09:32

Well, during the E3 announcement I jumped over my seat and suddenly went to the webiste to access the beta. After the sign-in they told me that I’ve been put in queue and that I will receive the beta in the next days. Same happened to my friends. Many people came after us (even the day after) and with no delay they got the beta immediately. I’ve waited some days that tried again to get it and “I’m still waiting”.

Many of you doesn’t care about this, but just wanted to report this on this blog another time. I gave my money to EA/Dice fot BF4 w/Premium and I got pissed off so I’m really disappointed that I started to hate Hardline.

  • pratyush997 07.23.14 at 08:10

    AWESOME!

  • DicelingXXpro 07.23.14 at 07:52

Personally, I think it is a good idea to give more time to work on hardline. Not to make hardline better, rather to help give more time on Battlefront, Mirror’s Edge, and hopefully Bad Company3. I want these games to do well so take as much time as you need.

  • ManBearPigXII 07.23.14 at 06:08

Good, make sure the game is ready before you launch it. I’ll never pre-order an EA game again because I’ve been burnt too many times before (especially when you release a premium edition right after launch and I already have the game and first expansion). That being said, I enjoyed the beta and I am optimistic for Hardline. Please just make sure the game is balanced and doesn’t have game breaking weapon attachments and crap like that (like the silencer that messed up the sound on certain maps in BF4). Less is more when it’s done right!

  • CTD-DeathMoney 07.23.14 at 06:01

I just hope they make the graphics agetnd lighting better bf4 was more detailed imo, and thats kinda backwards hope yall make it look better BF customer for life!

  • lchan 07.23.14 at 05:57

I really, really hope that when they release this game, that the graphic options will not allow people to reduce it to an extend that they see you from afar clear as daylight. A number of people running BF4 put their graphic options so low that for example, while you are hiding behind bushes, the person with low setting graphics will see you but not the bush. The game should be made with very high graphic requirements with very minimal tweaking.

  • RjK311jR 07.23.14 at 05:27

I really hope they really go to the extreme… Crowds should be every where when the scene first break out… in-game footage zooming cinematic with no cutscenes… As shots go out people start dispersing more… hell people who get too close during the scene could become hostages, if the scene moved to other parts of the city people should be their because its just cops and robbers…. So the battlefield is The suburbs and towns and cities… not huge battlefields in WAR TIMES.. so to do this right this is all a must or the game is a total bust… the idea is huge and hell Id be happy to hear if it took another year cause the game could be SO GOOD and deep but done wrong it could be very empty cities where a crime broke out yet everyone evacuates immediately… I didnt like the beta it felt like a mod… but im a core BF fan… I love BF42, 43, 2, Vietnam, Desert Conflict mod… Love them… this is different…yet the same…. please do it right

    • BROWNSPARTAN420 08.04.14 at 15:29

They need to play payday 2 if they want to see cops and robbers done right.

  • Bawaga 07.23.14 at 04:28

Should have simply posted that due to poor pre-order sales EA realized that BF players no longer believe their lies.

  • CoWbOyDaNtheMAN 07.23.14 at 04:19

Good at least they aren’t going to release an unfinished game like some previous titles that were released too soon just to try and compete with other game releases.

  • SmokinNinja816 07.23.14 at 03:40

Im glad they are taking some more time… I played the beta for Pc and Ps4 and I wouldnt have bought hardline if it would have stayed the same it didn’t feel like battlefield to me

  • Adamonic 07.23.14 at 03:40

Pre-orders came in way below expectations and they need more time to generate pre-order income.

  • NickyEATH 07.23.14 at 03:38

just finish the game. made more stability just that.
don’t rush guy, don’t be like BF4 fully of bug when it came out first time.

and again. your game is fun with mutiplayer more than singleplayer. make one of these outstanding.

  • Noticegiven 07.23.14 at 02:56

Does this mean that people that pre-oredered already are all setup still to get the game at release? What if the price lowers or raises? I pre-ordered through the PSN for a digital copy, just wondering what will happen.

  • XxMcFlyxX 07.23.14 at 01:39

Anyone who knows just a little about business will see that this is just a bunch of PR BS to say that “That don’t think their game is going to sell, they want to make it so more people will buy it.” Normally I would be thrilled about news like this, however given EA in this case… Well, it is indifferent.

    • bRtz-Ruffneck 07.23.14 at 02:14

agreed.. you should have saved this move for BF5/BC3/2143 or whatever main BF game you’re doing next @ EA. On the other hand Visceral is using EA’s new: “you need time? we got time.. take your time!!”
policy so the game likely WILL be better for it. Still not going to buy it personally. And people whatever you do don’t pre-order games, and help make games good again. thanks

  • VankoHuntz 07.23.14 at 01:37

Well done DICE and Visceral, you guys have no idea how good it to read that.
So, I suggest just one thing for the Engineer class, make the Carabines its exclusively weapon, it’s better, and they are well balanced against the Assault Rifles, and make the PDWs all kit weapon. Was that way back in Battlefield 3, and everyone liked it.

  • Viper007Bond 07.23.14 at 01:19

Better to have a good, stable product later than a buggy product earlier. This is great news — we can wait.

  • OsamaJavaid 07.23.14 at 01:17

“We have learned a lot from Battlefield 4″…if that’s true, it is a good thing

  • Mainfold 07.23.14 at 01:15

This is definitively the right decision, making it more of “it’s own game” and more fitting of the Law Enforcement vs Criminals genre. There’s so much that can be (and probably needs to be) done to make it a more of an appealing title, and there’s a lot of other games to learn from (like All Points Belletin and so forth).

  • MrpmMxr 07.23.14 at 01:08

Whatever it takes to make a great game. This has the potential to have not only great multiplayer DLCs, but single player DLCs, additional “episodes”, focus on characters, etc. Just don’t pull a Ubisoft and not have female characters. Also, take pages from Crime dramas and detective shows on BBC, and other places. This is not only for international audiences, but about having an aesthetic that really is comparable to the best that is available to TV viewers and gamers. Think of all the great John Woo films, Hong Kong action films, Ridley Scott movies, and TV shows Ridley Scott has produced. British crime drama. But at the end of the day, what’s most exciting is this is a Visceral/DICE Studio Production.

  • derbestefan 07.23.14 at 00:30

You should add Watch Dogs Style lively cities(traffic and pedestrians) to the game. It seemed way to dead in the city.

    • l-Colin-l 07.23.14 at 00:41

I don’t think too many people are going to be hanging around while guns, rockets, and grenades are blowing up everything. Maybe off in the distance you can see cars and trucks on a freeway–just nothing near the battle zone.

    • Cele5tialKnight 07.23.14 at 00:45

That is because it has been evacuated and SWAT has been sent in.

    • Dreigo42 07.23.14 at 00:48

I agree although it should only be at the beginning when the heist, etc just started. I imagine most people will get the hell out of the area after it starts. Maybe a random couple hiding in a corner or something.

      • IcoNicQuicKShot 07.24.14 at 22:17

Haha they gonna haul ass once they here that first bullet.

  • Cele5tialKnight 07.23.14 at 00:25

This is a very smart decision the team has made. I’d rather wait and have a working game vs. Experience another failed attempt like nf4. That game needed 6 more months of development prior to release.

  • Ocean H 07.23.14 at 00:24

    “Comment moderation is enabled.”

    Apparently not.

  • Ocean H 07.23.14 at 00:22

“We have learned a lot from Battlefield 4, …”

Because DICE learned from Battlefield 3 for Battlefield 4. Oh, wait…

  • Dpopey 07.23.14 at 00:11

good this game was less then impressive for me when i tried the ps4 beta.
the postion the gun was placed was more to the right hand side then bf4 which i didnt like, as well as the guns to me looked to thin?? this could just have been a beta issue but none the less has affected my decision to skip this game entirely. it really struggles for me as it does not feel like a battlefield game. if this was named something other then battlefield then i wouldnt compare the two but for me it doesnt hit the spot.

  • aczajka 07.22.14 at 23:59
  • BTL-A4_Ace 07.22.14 at 23:49

OMG… has EA actually learned? E-P-I-C. Good call, guys. Glad to hear this! :D

  • NocturnalFreak 07.22.14 at 23:46

In all honesty I’m 100% agreeable with any studio delaying a game to fine tune, add community requested features, and hopefully launch a completed game; naturally these studios desire to be profitable with their releases so taking the stance to delay shows a lot for what this game stands for: a studio proud and having the integrity to give its fans a product that is hopefully pleasing and shows it!

Thanks for making his choice and definitely have my interest even more so now!

  • xXDuBxGaLaXySXx 07.22.14 at 23:45

It’s great you’re doing this, that way you could improve it more and also improve Battlefield 4

  • AceandLeonitix 07.22.14 at 23:36

I’m so glad u guys are delayed the game and fixing Battlefield 4. :)

  • Thatotherguy01 07.22.14 at 23:35

So happy to hear this. This is probably the best news you could have given us!

  • IRELAND914 07.22.14 at 23:16

EA is letting them have more time to work on it so they don’t shit the bed at launch this time. Nice!

  • nicklas97491 07.22.14 at 23:13

I’m so glad this game has been delayed, good games need more time!

  • ISAF Mobius 18 07.22.14 at 23:07

wow, talk about learning from your mistakes. BF4 should have done this too. Im glad Hardline is doing something smart. I’d rather wait more for a finished game than get it early incomplete like BF4. I just hope the wait is worth it. Also I hope they bring the 2nd Beta test to Xbox.

  • JCPASSAFIST 07.22.14 at 23:03

Kill the development on PS3/XBox 360 and move forward with PC and current gen. That should free up some resources.

  • Warr3n_97 07.22.14 at 22:55

So what does this mean about it’s life cycle. If DICE want to continue to launch BF games in October, then will BF Hardline have around a 19/20 month lifetime or a 9/10 month lifetime? Either way this is a really good decision

  • trdartz 07.22.14 at 22:50

As many people are saying, Take all the time you want. Rather wait for a great problem free game with balanced and realistic mechanics than an Add-on -like game that puts BF4 into a city….. we have Dragon’s Teeth for that :) (great DLC btw) .

I’ve played Battlefield since the first BF1942… each of them had a similar style… but unique in their own way. Hardline Beta didn’t feel much different from BF4 or BF3 other than new maps…. Being cops and robbers it should be very different. More tactical, less running and gunning. Instead of game modes with the same objective regardless of the map, maybe each map has unique missions or objectives to suit that map.

Anyways BF series rocks… don’t rush a deadline and get forced to release buggy games….

    • r-Ludvig 07.22.14 at 22:52

It was a great thing this got delayed, though it’s sad to see some people who didn’t even like the beta that are moaning over this delay at the same time as complaining about Battlefield 4 being released too early.

  • r-Ludvig 07.22.14 at 22:48

People will complain so much over this delay yet they moan about how Battlefield 4 was rushed, i’m glad they delayed this.

  • OperationDark 07.22.14 at 22:46

Did somebody realize, that a good piece of work needs its time?

  • Blambaby 07.22.14 at 22:43

All for this. Keep up the good work.

Bunch of raging, fat, virgin nerds. Take all the time you need so the launch isn’t COMPLETELY terrible. Oh and keep listening to the community (the sensible side).

  • Major_Tawm 07.22.14 at 22:38

I can see how this happened: EA(VISCERAL/DICE): “Dammit people realized this is just a reskinned bf4 and its nothing but DLC, QUICK DELAY NOW!”.

lol this game deserves to fail, period.

    • Overload192 07.22.14 at 22:44

      k. bye :D

    • Dpopey 07.23.14 at 00:12

      agreed

    • Apache333 07.23.14 at 03:23

Or they are trying to make the game better.(there is always the cod fanboys who think bf should fail).

      • Major_Tawm 07.23.14 at 20:10

NO. Just NO. I hate cod but mainly because its a freaking recycle every year with different skin. How is BFH not a mod of BF4? HOW? Point something that makes it a different GAME.

I own BF4 and as much as I hate Premium and EA, I dont want the franchise to die, let alone DICE. But I DO WISH Hardline fails, because if this POS succeeds, say goodbie to innovation in the battlefield franchise. but you blind sheeps cant see that obviously.

  • boguerra 07.22.14 at 22:30

    BC3 ou GTFO

  • wolverinemarky 07.22.14 at 22:27

First off for everyone who saying fix battlefield 4 first. Hardline is not made by DICE it is made by visceral. So they have no responsibility to fix BF4 cause they didn’t make BF4. Also this is good cause the end of the year has way too many games as it is so being able to focus more on this at a later date is win win

  • MrSnooch 07.22.14 at 22:27

I can’t wait to see people complain about this delay – the same people who complain BF4 was rushed and “doesn’t work”.. sigh

  • zuphzuph 07.22.14 at 22:25

LOLZ sell your stock before release! :)

  • II JONZIE II 07.22.14 at 22:24

This is great news for everybody, really glad you have delayed it! :)

  • B3nds0n 07.22.14 at 22:24

BF4 had a awful launch cause they didnt took the time they needed. So i hope, Hardline will have a better launch because of this additional time.
I wont buy it day 1, but many will. So lets hope for the best :)

  • Overload192 07.22.14 at 22:18

    Lot’s of respect for this.
You can say what you want but in the end this is a good thing.

  • xLucky13z 07.22.14 at 22:15

Why are you working on a new game when you cant even get this one to play properly?
Like maybe focus on BF4 server so I can actually play without getting kicked and ill consider spending any money on anything you touch in the future.

    • MrSnooch 07.22.14 at 22:25

That sounds like a shit internet connection rather than a game issue…

  • DANNYonPC 07.22.14 at 22:14

I am really happy with this news

Seems like EA has learned from their BF4 mistake.

  • HoleyDonut 07.22.14 at 22:11

I hope they have some time to work in some asymmetrical gameplay mechanics so cops feel like cops and robbers feel like robbers. Interrogation takedowns aside, Hardline was very boring and didn’t do much with the cops vs robbers theme.

To that end, PvZ Garden Warfare is loads of fun to play where the zombies and plants really feel unique and the game lends itself to feeling like you’re on diverse factions. Contrast that with Hardline where you frequently forgot if you were a cop or criminal.

  • Tuftedslally 07.22.14 at 22:10

Ouch, guess it’s better than releasing too soon. Thanks.
