Since the launch of Battlefield 4, our players have been pivotal in giving us valuable feedback. Today we’re launching the Community Test Environment in our continuous efforts to make the game even more enjoyable and engage with our fans in new ways.
The Community Test Environment (CTE) will provide passionate fans the chance to evolve Battlefield 4 with us and become a part of the development process. We’ll be able to test new ideas and solutions to current issues before we roll them out to all Battlefield players.
Among the first things we will work on is the “Netcode,” which is what the player experiences with the game world including player-to-player interactions like damage registration. This involves tweaking to the “tickrate” servers and networking in general.
By launching this new program, not only will we be able to address player feedback at an early stage, but also increase the overall quality of the game. We are excited to explore the possibilities together with you.
This community program will be available on PC only. However, the goal is for our learnings to benefit all platforms when possible. To access the CTE, you will need to be a Battlefield 4 Premium member. Players will have to download a separate game client, then connect to an infrastructure and Battlelog version solely set up for testing purposes.
Initially, only Battlefield 4 Premium members will be able to opt-in, and there will be a limit to how many can join. We do have plans to expand to a larger player base in the future after we test this new program. If you feel that you want to provide constructive feedback to make Battlefield 4 an even better game – then you’re more than welcome to apply to the CTE.

Alright. A lot of people seem so pissed about this game. Honestly, I built my computer back in December and have yet to play more than 5 games total without my computer freezing up. I’m upset, but this is an incredibly complex game. If you want something that always works, play COD. Nothing ever changes with that game. If you want a game that pushes the limits of FPS, be patient. It’s not like they’re telling us they’re scrapping the game. It seems they released it pre-maturely, but they’re dedicated to perfecting it. I, for one, am willing to wait because it will be well worth it. Keep up the good work DICE
How embarrassing. Seriously, you should just quit wasting resources and get on with BF 5.
almost year after release and they are starting to work on the netcode … just great , never ever bf if dice makes it again
There’s no way in Hell I’m getting Battlefield 5 if this is going to be EA’s M.O.
What is this bullsh*t? You know what you need to do? Fix the shitty aim assist on console, bullet registrations 3 feet behind cover…basically….the netcode in general -.-”"
Not exactly on topic, but close. It would be nice if you could invite friend(s) to the test range.
Please tell me how using purely PC gamers to help with the development is going to benefit all consoles? I have the Xbox One and there are so many issues from all sides… The game is absolutly amazing hands down! but still needs so much work guys.. You may have relieased it with all these DLC’s a little early, not tested it all properly maybe?
Im wondering if its possible for me to transition from xbox360 to ps4 and keep premium as well as my level and all that because im planning on getting one and i dont want to spend a small fortune buying everything again plus ive already started my character over because of mess ups twice so i reallyyyy dont want to grind back up to a high enough level to be equal with others players because it easy to see even if a higher lvl player has no skill at all he will still best a lvl 1 very skilled player because of the weapon balance issues
Holy crap! You guys just went fully retard!
‘Among the first things we will work on is the “Netcode,”’ does this mean that you haven’t even started making the game playable yet??
What the hell happened to you guys that made decide to ruin the best game series there ever was? BF2 was marvelous, BC2 great, BF3 ok but BF4? I stopped playing after a week and when I came back 5 months later to see how the game turned out, I still found my self swearing over the same bugs that should have been eliminated before the alpha, I seriously can’t beleive it!
6 months later DICE/EA?! Really?! Maybe you’ll learn your lessons for BF5/BC3/Battlefront etc. Here’s hoping.
Are we going to get paid for being testers? No?
What’s that? You already have in-house and external testers for both DICE and EA that you pay? Well why don’t they do their damn job then.
Already full – are you kidding me?
they may have let two 286 owners through then the CTE crashed
It was full yesterday just a couple hours after I received the email.
Lol wtf, but okay I guess I’m down.. gimme more new stuff because I’m bored now..
Skater ricky. I always face you guys. Im normally on the top of the score board on the other team. You should add me so I can join up.
I’ve been a Battlefield fan but currently don’t own a PC to play such a high end game such as BF4. I’ve been playing BF4 on PS4 and have been enjoying BF4 with my Platoon called Battlefield Chaos [BFC] I look forward to testing anything I can get my hands on. So if you need a valued fan on PS4 to test anything let me know. Our Platoon has been enjoying the Rent a Server program. Keep up the good work DICE. Looking forward to all the enhancements in BF4. Hope the Squad Join (Beta) will eventually allow you to join your own custom server that you either own or manage on PS4.
OH COOL SO PEOPLE GET TO BETA TEST A GAME THAT HAS BEEN OUT FOR MONTHS ALREADY. GG EA, GG.
Have a feel we got trolled hard
Soooo….did we miss it that fast or has it opened up yet?
How can it be full already….?

Hopefully they will make some more options for Premuim members to join. But in my words all of this is 6 months to late
Interesting. I might join in.

cool story
I will try my best out of this:)
Full already? Bummer!
Being a console player I am still actually a fan of this concept…Anything that will help !
