Road to End Game: Fight all year round on four vast maps

Battlefield 3: End Game brings the battle to four distinct environments featuring everything from arid desert landscapes to snowy mountain areas. Learn more about the map variety on offer below.

Four distinct maps are on offer in End Game. Size-wise, they are comparable to Caspian Border and Operation Firestorm from the base game, while the flag layout resembles that in our previous expansion pack Armored Kill – Meaning that we have spaced the capture points and bases to make full use of the entire Battlefield.

While all maps are carefully created to cater for the new dirt bike, the new AA vehicles should see heavy use on most of the maps as well. This new transport has a roof mounted turret that can switch between rockets and anti-air missiles to protect your infantry and combat air threats.

OPERATION RIVERSIDE

Internal working title: “XP5_001” or River”
Supported game modes: Capture the Flag (NEW), Air Superiority (NEW), Conquest, Rush, Squad Rush, Team Deathmatch, Squad Deathmatch
Distinguishing features: This fall themed map houses an electric power substation at its center, with a small river flowing along its axis. The layout of the bases in Operation Riverside caters somewhat towards infantry action rather than all-out vehicle warfare. It’s generally speaking an infantry-friendly landscape where soldiers can go by foot between the bases, while ground vehicles need to take more roundabout roads to traverse the environment.

Across the river giving this map its name, players can find a spectacular jump in the form of a partly destroyed wooden bridge. A lot of other ramps have been carefully placed in the environment on Operation Riverside to make sure that the map is full of exciting options for riders of the new dirt bike. You can read more about the spectacular jumps in End Game in this previous blog post.

NEBANDAN FLATS

Internal working title: “XP5_002” or “Flats”
Supported game modes: Capture the Flag (NEW), Air Superiority (NEW), Conquest, Rush, Squad Rush, Team Deathmatch, Squad Deathmatch
Distinguishing features: In this arid desert dotted with gigantic wind generators lies a seemingly non-distinguishing warehouse. But behind its unassuming exterior hides a secret weapons and munitions depot, leading to a clash in the area. The relative openness of the desert setting allows for full freedom of movement for the entire range of vehicles at disposal in Battlefield 3 multiplayer. The low amount of natural cover available also demands quick transportation between capture points, as players are otherwise open to attack.

KIASAR RAILROAD

Internal working title: “XP5_003” or “Railroad”
Supported game modes: Capture the Flag (NEW), Air Superiority (NEW), Conquest, Rush, Squad Rush, Team Deathmatch, Squad Deathmatch
Distinguishing features: This picturesque summer logging industry setting sees a strategic railway stretch across the map – with covert weapons deliveries being its main purpose. The many height changes in this undulating landscape can be used to your advantage – There’s plenty of opportunity to hide from the enemy and use cover as you approach your targets.

While this map also has ample opportunity for dirt bike riders to catch big air, the jumps on Kiasar Railroad are typically more carefully molded into the landscape itself, or not as obvious.

SABALAN PIPELINE

Internal working title: “XP5_004” or “Pipeline”
Supported game modes: Capture the Flag (NEW), Air Superiority (NEW), Conquest, Rush, Squad Rush, Team Deathmatch, Squad Deathmatch
Distinguishing features: Ever since we demoed the Alborz Mountain map at GamesCom 2012 and saw the amazing fan reactions, we’ve known that snow is one of the most stunning settings we can provide in Battlefield 3. Sabalan Pipeline is no different. The oil pipeline traversing this frosty winter landscape has immense economic value and is a highly contested battlefield.

Similar to Operation Riverside, Sabalan Pipeline was built to cater for a mix of vehicle and infantry gameplay. Compared to the other three maps in End Game, Sabalan Pipeline has fewer and narrower roads that are important to control if you want to dominate the opposition. At the center of this map lies a central base that is also an essential asset, as it allows you extended control over the road leading to and from your main bases.  This is equally important whether playing the signature Battlefield Conquest mode or our take on Capture the Flag that we are introducing in End Game.

We’re excited to present our players with such a broad variety of environments to expand their Battlefield experience with come March. @screentalker i can’t help but think that these maps are heavily BC2 inspired. Since the games release, the BF3 forums have blown up with people saying ‘release bc2 maps!’ so, i would love to see most of the maps in BC2 in BF3… but if we wait long enough, we’ll get another Bad Company game.

    Operation Riverside = Isla Inocentes
    Nebandan Flats = Heavy Metal
    Kiasar Railroad = Laguna Alta
    Sabalan Pipeline = Port Valdez

  • pakalkin 02.20.13 at 19:49

I think there should be a snow cammo suit available to use when in those nice snowy maps…

  • ScreenTalker 02.20.13 at 19:19

Can someone just please Kickstart a project that has all of the Bad Company 2 maps remade in Frostbite 2?!!? I love BF3 but the map design on BC2 was an entirely different animal.

    • Kondensatorn 02.20.13 at 19:52

Agreed, BF3′s maps are awesome but Bad Company 2′s maps are even more super duper awesome’er, would love to see them in frostbite 2.

  • LTS55 02.20.13 at 18:45

Sabalan Pipeline looks amazing. I love maps set in winter and I love oil rig type maps. Looks like some good sniping spots.

  • mr_ZM 02.20.13 at 18:30

    it’s remember me bfbc2 cards

  • topsu16 02.20.13 at 18:06

And also some new weapons! I was looking for weapons in armored kill and aftermath but there was no weapons. So now new weapons FTW!

    • Asp-G36 02.21.13 at 20:57

Where did you see the mention of these new weapons? I’ve been looking and haven’t seen it anywhere… Although I would really really really really like a G36K (aka G36E) for End Game. That would be siiiick.

  • topsu16 02.20.13 at 18:04

Please DICE Give us a snow camoflauge! It would be cool!

  • HartesWasser 02.20.13 at 18:01

They should make Snow camo, because we have 2 snow maps.
    They should make skidoos.
And some Blizzards so you can’t see so far and the weather change would make the game much cooler and would double the game fun :D

Pretty cool would be camos with some plant-parts or an scope that shuts down the reflection.
About the reflection.. i hate it when the scope reflects when you are in a darkend or shadow place.

The heavy sniper from the campain isn’t in multiplayer games :( they should put the sniper in.

I hoped for some Night Maps but there sadly no Night Maps. :/
Or maps with Day and Night change … ( with 100% tickets we have day, after losing more and more tickets its geting darker and darker till we have Night ) would be really cool because than we could use the Nightvision scop wich is completly useless on all maps we have now.

I hope that they design the maps better than in Aftermath, because you see a destroyed building and you want to hide or discover the destroved part of the map and you can’t walk or jump right in the destroyed wall or entre a building by a window. That sucks. There is no door or anything.
There are always invisible walls. They stop you from getting in to a nice spot… did you ever think that all buildings have normaly doors to entre. ( i never walked in my life agains an invisible wall ).
Aftermath maps really fucked me up, because of these invisible walls.

It would be nice to have some gameplay mode were team work is more like squad work.

    Repost !

    • kevin85kj 02.20.13 at 18:28

You are right about the scope flash, they should really fix it! i’ve noticed that sometimes there are no scope flash on ballistic scopes, rifle scopes etc. do any of you guys know why?

DICE should nerf the scope flash, especially in dark places, because there are no sun, or any light that could trigger the scope flash. It could be really cool, if you lies in a completely drak place, and somebody came with a flashlight pointed at you, and the scope flash would work then.

  • KrigarN^ 02.20.13 at 17:44

Would be awesome to have Snow camo on those winter maps.

    • LegoPolitieAgent 02.20.13 at 23:33

Us has Airman camo, RU has specact. Still, can’t get it because i life in the Netherlands. Dice. . .

  • MadDawgZod 02.20.13 at 17:39

@HartesWasser. Yeah its trash when people can see you and shoot back! Snipers…

    • HartesWasser 02.20.13 at 18:04

      Yes, its crap.
But its also really cool, but i think they schould make it more realistic.
Its like haveing a taklight on your sniper.

      • Eisenkehl 02.22.13 at 00:38

i dont think its about realism, but about balance. they want to nerf snipers.
but u shouldn’t search through ur scope for too long anyway

  • Sicjoke 02.20.13 at 17:38

Before we all get too excited, lets remember that unless you happen to be playing on a high end PC these maps are going to look nothing like the screenshots above.

After playing Uncharted at 1080p I am struggling to go back to the minecraft like resolution of BF3 on the PS3.

    • Buckstabu 02.22.13 at 23:24

Are you being serious? I just finished Uncharted, it did look incredible yes, But I think it’s a tad insulting to say “minecraft resolution” considering you can see the INDIVIDUAL FIBERS of a soldiers clothing in Battlefield 3 (PS3) I feel as though you’re just being harsh, the game looks nice. Hands down.

  • Innion 02.20.13 at 17:17

Snow camo would be fawking awesome! Also, all 4 maps look beautiful, just like the Aftermath maps do. Can’t wait for this :)

  • HartesWasser 02.20.13 at 16:51

    They yould do Snow camo.

Pretty cool would be camos with some plant-parts or an scope that shuts down the reflection.
About the reflection.. i hate it when the scope revlects when you are in a darkend or shadow place.

  • KUNSCHNER 02.20.13 at 15:48

They should make some snow camo now.

  • Asjack666 02.20.13 at 12:43

How about some mod tool’s so we can make this game better

    • Eisenkehl 02.22.13 at 00:25

meant less money for the corporation. how dare you thinking about that :o

  • GFL44 02.20.13 at 09:18

weapons for end game not to sure maybe? so far each expansion pack had its own unique assignments after math with Xbow and armor kill with vehicle assignments so i see a couple of vehicle assignments with AA gun and dirt bike a little more camo for guns we already have i don’t really see any weapons coming from this expansion pack buy hey you never know

  • EXILE157 02.20.13 at 08:58

6 Man Squad! > Custom Gear Loadouts! > Fix the multiple Knife Grabs! it still suck most the time it just swings & when your behind chasing a player, close to grab & stab the F’ nothing happens!? the Knife stays in your hand even though you keep trying to Knife the F’

  • wyant4 02.20.13 at 08:19

First of all, I am tired of hearing that we need new weapons. There are more than enough already. Each class contains a plethora of guns that have their own unique character, as well as advantages and disadvantages. If you feel that we need more, I suggest exploring this vast array, instead of sticking to 1 or 2 guns per class. I often start by choosing a weapon that enemies are using to kill me, with some frequency. Or, exchange your kit with a fallen soldier! I am always surprised at the situational advantages or in some cases uselessness of guns that I had previously overlooked or ignored. By doing this, the game will remain fresh, and you will also find yourself becoming a better and more diverse player. Again, there are a ridiculous amount of weapons in this game, which are each delightfully unique. Overall, there is balance between them as long as they are used in sensible maps, modes etc… The only real way adding new weapons would add interest is if they were comparatively unbalanced and overpowered (always a bad idea).

About the maps…. The size, scope, visuals, layout, dynamics…etc of BF3 maps are in my opinion unparalleled in the first person shooter community. However, all of the non-urban maps suffer from a lack of diversity. Consider Damavand Peak, Kharg Island, Operation Firestorm, Gulf of Oman, Bandar Desert.. maybe others I cant remember, all of which are essentially desert maps in either texture and/or shape. Mountains and elevation form the boundaries, and a desert with plenty of rock formations, occasional structures and maybe some sparse trees and vegetation form the playing field. This format can be stretched to Caspian border, Alborz Mountain (in some ways) and basically all of the open maps. I know the franchise is called “battlefield” for a reason and therefore contains very large open maps, but of all the environments on earth, I can think of none less interesting than middleastern desert… apart from perhaps the open ocean. Unfortunately BF3 open maps are almost entirely just that. If I’m not explaining this well, I have a feeling that many people would agree that these maps at least have a VERY similar feel.

Therefore, I suggest that the developers add some diversity. Give these open maps more density, a unique character and distinguishing features. If you are going to have forest maps, make them a bit denser and take the battle into the trees. As it is now, trees are just sort of inconveniences that you run over with a tank. Maybe add a legitimate jungle. And good lord make a real snow map… Alborz was beautiful but had the same feel even with the drastic elevation changes. This new snow map as others have mentioned is simply a retextured op. firestorm…. Sad. With all the desert maps I think it would have been awesome to have at least one like a scene out of Utah, with large natural formations and perhaps well thought out canyons. I would prefer DLC’s with one map, very well thought out, and built completely from the ground up than 4 maps that essentially offer the same experience. Each map should offer something that another doesn’t, with distinguishing features, catering to specific types of play. I feel like Aftermath was a large improvement and at least close quarters was… different.

It seems from the screen shots that these things wont come to light, which is why I felt necessary to comment. But I really hope that the developers take these things into consideration with BF4… along with a way to make the play more organized by enhanced communication or leadership… maybe commander mode addresses this, but I’m not sure as BF3 is my first battlefield experience.

    • BF3_Killa_69 02.20.13 at 08:33

personally i have play enough with all weapons, i have 65 proficiency dog tags but i love guns & i wanna see some more guns in that game.why not?if u dont like extra guns simply dont do the assignments hahahahahaha

    • NeedForCannabis 02.20.13 at 09:22

      Totally agree with you.

    • NioXin 02.20.13 at 10:08

Well said, man, I can tell your a much more mature player than most that comment (and should not bother), the shear amount of content this game offers over any other games of this type is unmatched to this date. Yeah there are some issues and features that are sorely missing, but I would prefer they stay there resources on BF4 and have faith that all this and more will be presented to us in a BF3 killer of a game.

    • Nano_Lewis 02.21.13 at 15:00

Yep, they really need to do ONE huge map. A damn huge map where everybody needs to share rides, to attack at the same time, to be ONE team. A map where there are 10 mCom generators to blow for example. This could be really fun and exciting ! And the big interest of the map, could be to have a big diversity of environment like to begin in a desertic area, then to reach a town, then to climb a mountain, and to finish in an underground base. With a map like that, coordination would be the main point of focus, and we could use all the gear we have unlocked ! Right guys ?
      ONE HUGE MAP. ONE !

  • ace_wolf08 02.20.13 at 05:59

Well, the snow map is going to awsome I do agree that we now need an actual snow camo for vehicles and uniforms…gun snow camo would also be a nice touch. The Urban camoe for the US and Russian..usually can do the trick though. The desert mp is going to be…interesting..with its flat settings…some vehicle warfare’s going to be useful, but I can see some serious use for the mortars, especially the smoke rounds for cover…

  • KiillerKTown 02.20.13 at 05:41

Now we have two snow maps and no snow camouflage gear, bout time that was addressed.

  • EpicFalling 02.20.13 at 04:37

Hmmm, c4 the dam and flood the enemy down river at the power substation!

  • BennyjBEFRAYED 02.20.13 at 03:57

in the trailer it looked like there were allot more than 16 jets. what I wanna know is wtf is that blimp thing? is that supposed to be the capture point or something?
I played a crap tonne of 1943 but never played air sup.
gonna love air sup in bf3 though. Oh yes i will get owned errr time but still.

    • ISAF Mobius 18 02.20.13 at 04:36

The blimp is the capture point. Since it cant be a ground based flag, its a air born one instead.

      • BennyjBEFRAYED 02.20.13 at 05:06

and can be destroyed? cause i am sure i saw it getting shot down in the vid. i do smoke allot of weed though

  • Neneko007 02.20.13 at 03:49

I guess maybe 6 to 8 jets on console like battlefield 1943, pc maybe 12 to 16 too many would screw it up unless maps were extremely huge.

  • BF3_Killa_69 02.20.13 at 03:41

what we will do until bf4 comes out?

  • BF3_Killa_69 02.20.13 at 03:36

end game is gonna be awesome but if this is gonna be the last dlc there should be new guns & snow camos!i cant imagine the last bf3 dlc without something big, like they did with bc2 vietnam!how about a vietnam or ww2 expansion with old guns old vehicles…..? COME ON DICE PLEASE
