Celebrate The Battlefield 10th anniversary with us

The legendary Battlefield 1942 launched one decade ago and changed everything. Join our week long celebration of the Battlefield series, full of retrospects, classic trailers, legendary concept art, and great price promotions.

It’s going to be a great week for Battlefield fans in all of our channels. Later today, we will repost one of the classic trailers from Battlefield 1942 with comments by its original creator, DICE Senior Video Producer Roland Smedberg. Back in 2002, it was extremely unusual for game trailers to feature actual in-game footage the way we did.

Each day until September 28 will feature something new from the rich history of the Battlefield series. If you’re an old time Battlefield veteran or a fan interested in gaming history, you don’t want to miss this.

Download remastered anniversary artwork
To celebrate our 10th anniversary, we have custom created a few other pieces of artwork as well that we want to share with you. Feel free to download these to adorn your desktop or website. There’s the 10th anniversary logo plus four never before seen desktop wallpapers in full HD resolution. These were created here at DICE by upscaling select scenes from the classic Battlefield 1942 intro. Just click the thumbnails below to download the 1920×1080 versions. Enjoy!

Announcing The Wake Island Dog Tag Challenge
Help commemorate the launch of Battlefield 1942 by revisiting Wake Island (in Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand). Next week, we launch the Wake Island Dog Tag Challenge, where we task PC players to compete against Xbox 360 and PS3 players to reach a specific number of game rounds on this legendary map. Stay tuned for the full details on this challenge soon.

Chat with Battlefield 1942 veteran Lars Gustavsson next Tuesday
Few people at DICE know more about the Battlefield series than Lars Gustavsson. He has worked on almost every Battlefield title since the start, and Codename Eagle (the spiritual predecessor to Battlefield) before that. Come Tuesday, you will be able to chat with Lars Gustavsson on Origin.com and ask him anything about the history of Battlefield. We will get back to you soon with the exact timings for this rare opportunity.

Week long celebration
This is the first decade of Battlefield, and this is just the beginning of our celebrations. Stay tuned for more happenings on our Facebook channel, YouTube, and Instagram. Each day until September 28th will celebrate our proud Battlefield heritage. Battlefield has been truly life-changing for us at DICE, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank our fans from the bottom of our hearts. We couldn’t have done this without you.

Today only: Battlefield Anniversary Sale
To kick off the celebrations, Origin are discounting select PC Battlefield games currently on sale on Origin (regional differences will be present) to just $10 or equivalent in your territory. Head to Origin now to stock up on the Battlefield games missing in your collection, but make sure to do it today. • MatheusValle1199 09.26.12 at 22:52

Congratulations Battlefield, Dice, Frostbite for his series of games that appeal to everyone until today playing.HAPPY BIRTHDAY BATTLEFIELD!!!

  • BEY0NDER 09.26.12 at 19:57

Ahh, the game that STARTED IT ALL…

  • Gunner_1st 09.26.12 at 10:48

All this does is remind me of how DICE cheated the PC community, months of build up, and then took our money, only to NEVER release 1943 for the PC

  • 88_i 09.26.12 at 04:42

Happy B’Day 2u… you smell like an FPS and u make a bloody good one 2! Hip hip horah!

  • ChicoLui 09.26.12 at 02:59

Happy 10th Anniversary, and thanks for all the entertainment I’ve received from the battlefield franchise.

  • SGTSNIPES 09.25.12 at 11:03

Love to see a mixture of old BF games rolled into one with the new Frostbite 2 engine also, happy 10th anniversary dice.

  • Shi_ga_kita 09.25.12 at 06:03

if possible I would like to speak with the idea people at DICE directly. I own a copy of every game in the battlefield series on either xbox or pc (pc being my favourite) and would like to suggest aome ideas. I spoke to some of my friends and would like to do surveys of the fanbase. I don’t have rescources but if anyone can help me to get into contact with the DICE marketing and management, we could make the ultimate PC first person shooter experience.
One of my favourite things about battlefield (which I think alot of people miss is that you drop your magazines. a feature from battlefield 1942 to battlefield 2: modern combat.
Another important part of battlefield vietnam and battlefield 1942 was the number of AI’s available in single player games. Aswell as a complete lack of a true campaign with set missions and scripted dialogue.
Look at battlefield 1942 gameplay and compare it to battlefield 3, The sheer amount of possibilities was astounding and while much has been added, the classic experience has been left behind so that battlefield is now only better than call of duty. I don’t care about the graphics of the game.
I don’t care about mainstream ideas like pulling all your bullets from one clip and putting them in the next so that you somehow keep whatever you don’t shoot off. The most important thing is that
you have forgotten what it was like when you were BATTLEFIELD. If I can play battlefield 4 on an old laptop with battlefield 2 graphics, I would be extremely happy. I want to see a good game, if I can blow my way through buildings, then I don’t care if each individual brick is a single magnificent 3d object.
If I can fight a hundred effective Ais (not literally of course but 32 vs 32 would be favourite) then I don’t care if I can make out each individual beard hair. I like bullet travel time and physics engines, but I also like being able to run the game for more than half an hour on my laptop. Bring in fans and talk to them. Customize a game for the fans and let the fans beta test. I don’t care if im in the beta test or not but if you want the marketing point of view, a game made from the ideas of the fans for the fans and marketed as such will be the best selling point of a game ever. Has anyone ever tried it?

If anyone agrees to this and can help this happen, friend me on origin. Everything else I have is far too full.

  • ArcLight Raven 09.24.12 at 17:09

I loved the old battlefields, where you could control the aircraft carrier and tactfully place it, the battle ships that you could shoot on shore, in vietnam where the chinook ch-47 could sling load tanks, jeeps, or any ground vehicle. I hope they make that possible again for xbox!!

  • XDnow 09.24.12 at 13:29

To be honest i don’t like the new style of Battlefield games i really loved the WWII Theme i really loved those games i have every game for now all from Battlefield 1942 to battlefield 3 and to be honest i loved every game exept when we come to the modern war… im really sorry DICE but take back WWII theme :)

    • LemonJuiceDealer 09.24.12 at 20:49

I agree with you, playing BF3, i can imagine playing 1942 with a frosbite tecnology….

  • MikeAP 09.24.12 at 13:07

DICE should’ve stuck to the WWII theme. The current modern stuff just doesn’t work, and is extremely unrealistic…especially tank combat. Using an M1A2 without a laser range finder or ballistic computer is just mind-blowing for me. I’d much rather fight Sherman tanks against Panzers.

  • illbeback2 09.24.12 at 12:30

Although wonderful games, each individually, none of the sequels can match the excitement we’ve all experienced running around the BF1942 maps for the first time. Made me a gamer at 32.

    • mrhankey1982 09.25.12 at 05:12

dude i have the same fking face as u lol i swear

  • F_T-Major_C 09.24.12 at 10:02

1942 was an amazing game…. I loved the team play aspect, but for me Desert Combat was the real game changer ( not on the list as not an official release ?? ) The hole team aspect was in my opinion far better than BF3 , Dont get me wrong I do enjoy playing BF3 but its not the same level . Bring back Capture The Flag for BF4. To me BF3 is too fast paced. run, shoot die spawn repeat again and again….. The little Birds and Gazelle took real skill to fly well, I could regularly defeat Jets in them, in BF3 I dont even bother climbing into them …. Battlefield is A GREAT franchise, why not open up the source code again to allow other developers the opportunity to maybe come up with another Desert Combat….

    • VolksDragon 09.24.12 at 16:02

Desert Combat was the first “unofficial” mod done for BF that was any good, and it wasn’t made by EA/DICE. It was made by Trauma Studios (which was bought by DICE after the mod 0.7). You are correct, though, it made the game a LOT better with the Mod than without.

  • DotAXRU 09.23.12 at 16:41

    Battlefield 1942 + Battlefield 2 = 52%
52% is more then a half of all votes. DICE should take it into account and make Battlefield 4 feeling more closer to thsese great games.

    • Joji 09.23.12 at 22:15

By releasing BF4 within the next year or so, players like me will not be satisfied. I’d say, we should get mod tools for BF3 and continued support for the game as well. If not, I’d make sure BF4 is PC exclusive. Max out all the possible destructive elements in the game. I hate how consoles are compromising the full potential of the Frostbite 2 Engine.

    • R3FRESH 09.24.12 at 09:22

      Totally agreed, man! ,)

  • G-vi 09.23.12 at 00:26

i would just like to thank dice for the best game ever made! (bf1942) i lost over 4 years of my life to it (sad i know) after some time i lost touch with the pc world and never really got back to it still dont play pc games but then i found bf3 and now it seems like every thing i done every game i played till now was just waiting for this to come out my wife is now a war widow and im hooked again DICE YOU NAILED IT AGAIN (just stop nurfing everything everyone can unlock everything so its all fair anyway if ppl dont wana use it thats there look out!)
also alot of ppl saying remake 1942 with fb2 that gets my vote if not then at least El Alamein as a dlc
anyway heres to another decade well done dice and happy birthday bf

    • G-vi 09.23.12 at 00:34

p.s as a salute to 10 years of bf we at The Flying HellFish [TFHF] (PS3) have dedicated all our servers to 24/7 wake island for the week so all welcome to come join the anniversary celebration

      • SPEEDMAN 09.23.12 at 14:51

        but that’s not on PS3. i mean BF1942 is not on PS3 ?

  • popboo 09.22.12 at 22:55

    It a LoL

  • Commando484z 09.22.12 at 22:29

SO…… why isn’t DICE making other post? They deleted the Vietnam one and removed the video for some odd reason…

  • dbole007 09.22.12 at 20:59

I first played Battlefield 1942, but really got into BF2 and was hooked, even had a clan I was part of and played it regularly to the point of wife thinking she was a widow. Now I play BF3 on Xbox and love it, and really love the airplanes and tanks.

  • Blackbird1978 09.22.12 at 18:32

I miss battlefield 1942 the most. It was for me the best game, too learn history and play in it. Hope that the bring it out again on the same engine of Battlefield 3 that would be very very cool.

    • TinyTurdz 09.22.12 at 22:16

I agree on all your points.

A true BF1942 with ships, subs, mod, bot, local server, and LAN support in BF3′s frostbite 2.0 engine would be greatness. …One can wish.

  • Loneranger640 09.22.12 at 18:30

Love BF2 above all. Only the lame jets and heli’s destroy a good game. Became even worse in BF3. BF3 ended up being just another-massacre-shooter. The first “war” game that has NO jets and heli’s will be my favorite game.

    • Nattvasen 09.22.12 at 19:25

Then play America’s Army :-) I like it!

    • BENSHIVD05 09.22.12 at 20:08

The vehicles make Battlefield stand out from the rest. If you dont want that play something else.

  • Rooivalk989 09.22.12 at 14:06

I REEEEAAAALLLYY love Battlefiled Bad Company 2,i wished they would make BFBC3 and have loads of tanks, guns, aircraft, cuztimizations and fun maps ;)

  • LAVAWOLF 09.22.12 at 10:40

i use to love the naval battle, in that game

  • SWEbear021 09.22.12 at 06:50

bf 1942 is legendary hope it comes a bf 1942 frostbite 2 version,

  • CPx4 09.22.12 at 05:49

C’mon, your article says “The offer only lasts until midnight today on September 20th”. It’s 8:45PM PST / 11:45PM EST. You took down the sale before midnight even struck in the USA.

  • donrockwilder 09.22.12 at 05:34

I still remember playing 1942 with the modern combat mod. Was the greatest thing ever, please DICE release modding tools so we can relive the awesomeness of back in the day.

  • DeafJerzy 09.22.12 at 05:25

Im a veteran of BF1942, loving these games so far since i started it. :)

  • Dutchka 09.22.12 at 05:20

The famous Battlefield 1942 theme song was the best, then it started going down hill, please bring it back?

  • Dutchka 09.22.12 at 05:18

What about the best mod ever…Desert Combat? Totally rocked at the time.
Oh and how come we cannot navigate ships or subs like we used to in 1942?

  • wtrmlnjuc 09.22.12 at 04:48

I loved them all, but 2142 struck a certain chord that’s still ringing. :)

Would love it if you could implement some more squad functions in BF3, however.

  • GlatiatorRX 09.22.12 at 03:55

    Battlefield Vietnam Original! WOOO!

  • G-vi 09.22.12 at 03:51

bf1942 will never die!!! BRING BACK EL ALAMAIN!!!!!!!

  • AdamDerbent 09.22.12 at 01:57

    Let’s talk about moneyback!!!!!
How to play when the map is full of hackers??? In fact, just one is enough to spoil the game.
I do not want to participate in it.
Please give me back my money.

    • ignazul 09.22.12 at 02:09

I am from germany, my english is very bad … no im not lothar matthäus and i am not thinking about a refound but instead of spending money for a anniversary, use it to make the game better.

  • WR4ITH66 09.21.12 at 23:06

for me its got to be BF2 i lost my life to that game, but hey it was well worth it..loved the idea you could use the sandbox, and if you where good enough even make a nice map..play a makers one in the desert was not a dice’s one but hey its was good, many years past on my PC..lol
what i can not understand why is the game Battlefield Heroes and Battlefield free to play games not in the list ?
i beta tested the game battlefield heroes with a company called QaBoss, which worked with DICE lol
i was great seeing the game from the start to the finish product thanks for letting me beta test it..
also did some beta testing on the free to play one..ok yes i do play cod with my friends but my heart will always be with DICE, now on BF3 UNGS server is doing well full every night,
@noutram yes the commander role was nice but got busy as hell sometimes lol..me to was not that keen on the future 2142..

would like to see a couple of good bf2 maps on bf3
    xbox tag WR4ITH66

    • DotAXRU 09.21.12 at 23:45

Battlefield 2 is my favorite game of all time. Hope that Battlefield 4 will be closer to Battlefield 2 then Battlefield 3 is.

  • noutram 09.21.12 at 22:42

I am torn between Battlefield 1942 and its Epic 2nd World War them and BF2 which seemed to bring lots of threads together and of course the Commander role which I like very much. I did not like 2142 so much, things where getting a bit too -shall we say- “Mecha” in that game. The more ‘computer’ that goes into the game the more distant I feel from the action.
What might be a great idea is to go back to World War 1 and the basics of combat -or even further back to American Civil War times… I think the gore could be increased, it could all get very messy indeed… :o)

  • RGaribe-BR 09.21.12 at 22:41

BF2 was the best game in the series! Hours and hours of gameplay and huge maps, scoring system more challenging and honest (very different from BF3).

I still hope one redeeming BF4 BF2 represented everything for me and my friends in their time.

  • tsenana 09.21.12 at 21:04

j’espère un remake de battlefield 1942 bientôt
I’m expecting a remake of battlefield 1942 soon why not bf4?

  • vietgamai 09.21.12 at 20:05

    Bon jeux ! hahaha !

  • VicTorCharLeS 09.21.12 at 19:59

IM STILL WAITING FOR THE REBIRTH OF THE COMMANDER! you guys have gone too arcadey & killed the teamwork style of gameplay.

  • DudeGonewild 09.21.12 at 19:32

2143 should be the next release for the series in my opinion…was by far the best of the series and since they remade just about every title now its only logical for them to develop it with the frostbite 2…id even like to see it as an expansion for BF3 or a complete version with its own expansions…BRING BACK THE TITAN :)

  • GUSM8 09.21.12 at 16:21

A new WWI / WWII game definitely needs to be made. Battlefield 1942 was amazing, though every CoD after Modern Warfare sucked. A new 1942 with updated GFX and new maps etc etc with NO customizable weapons / perks. That shit ruins a game completely. Battlefield series was amazing because of its basic gameplay. 1942 is my all time favourite and all in all MAKE A WWII game again!

    • Time_Point_Five 09.21.12 at 19:41

      it’s called battlefield 1943.

      • KonigstigerARG 09.21.12 at 20:02

        But… for PC!!!

      • uG Sladek 09.21.12 at 20:06

battlefield 1943 was a wwII game but it was nothing like 1942, 1943 only had like 3-4 maps compared to 1942′s 20. plus in 1942 you could drive ships and submarines, so i think he was talking about a game on that scale. i personally would love a remake of 1942 on the 360 that was not a download but on an actual disc.

  • Dr_OrangePie 09.21.12 at 14:21

If you make WW1 bf4, make it damn good… and skip the prestige shit. Anywayyyy. Make good game ^^

  • AKAOutlawspain 09.21.12 at 12:18

    i mean bf4 hehe

  • AKAOutlawspain 09.21.12 at 12:16

i would love to see in bf3 more gears(customs),face change maybe ur own snapshot and paste to the solders face, more gun skins( yes gold too) so on so on…

  • TiriaSpain 09.21.12 at 12:15

10 years having with you guys. Thanks for being there and giving us a purpose to play with our PCs!

  • Viper0hr 09.21.12 at 11:24

I would love to see Battlefield 4 be a WW1 or WWII game!!!

    • AUTh0rity 09.21.12 at 12:16

I really can’t see WW1 or 2 in a game again. I played too many of these in the past.
I also can’t see any *near future* games any more!

Can we please go a bit back in the “Top Gun” time with less high tech none sense?

    • Ihanrandom98 09.21.12 at 16:40

      That would be great!!

  • HarrierTubman 09.21.12 at 08:51

At least the ships in the screensaver have different numbers on them. In BF3 they were so lazy and put the number 88 on every destroyer you see deployed on the map. Derpp

  • p0tat0o 09.21.12 at 08:50

Wake Island challenge sounds awesome!!! I’ve been waiting for something like this! Time to own the console players! =P

  • LilGreenBag 09.21.12 at 07:37

BF 1942 was one of the most epic games ever. The ability to use any vehicle in the game blew my mind. I miss the submarines, the battleships and the movable carriers! Bombing a carrier in a vintage plane until it sank was so incredibly rewarding. It was amazing when a perfect torpedo run hit home and a ship sank below the surface.

The dog fights could last for 5 – 10 minutes if you came across someone with skill. Maps like Coral Sea were always a favorite!

Please rebuild with Frostbite 2 and bring back the sea battles!

  • StapleNut 09.21.12 at 07:14

You need to go back to the roots. Im talking Codename Eagle roots. I want huge zeplins and biplanes.

  • WOLFANTRY88 09.21.12 at 04:41

I say bring battlefiebact its roots!!! Put a little time into it and stop trying to be like CALL OF BATTLEFIELD. HINT: Give the vehicles back their individualities and personalities ie: A10 has bombs and a bad ass nose gun. The guns on attack helos are different from each other. There is no reason why all same-type vehicles have to be identical.

    • p0tat0o 09.21.12 at 08:53

I totally agree. Each vehicle should be different even on different teams. It will bring a new challenge to the game! Yea, it’s balanced the way it is, but thats boring!

The russian tank and abrams should have some differences besides cosmetics.

  • sikoretard1235 09.21.12 at 02:35

I wish a WWII one was made with battlefield 3 style such as running and not losing entire clips when you reload, Squad spawns, and class customization and more. I’m the world war 2 guy but I prefer how 3 works a little better. But I still like how much more teamwork there is in this than call of duty.

    • HammerBeatsRock 09.21.12 at 03:51

i would like to see DICE remaster B1942. Same game to a T, just use the frostbite 2 engine. we dont need a real campaign, go on and use the original map series concept, but it would be cool to have the controllable battle ship, and the original metal boats, and the terrain remade. Change up the UI and playing style to be more like BF3 but try not to loose the original order, or feel of the characters themselves.

I know this is likely not to happen, nor happen soon, but DICE, I really want to see BF1942 rebuilt, The whole game, not just a couple maps like you did with golf of oman in back to karkand.

      I hope this is seen!

      • sirphunkee 09.21.12 at 05:08

I’ve said the same thing about BF:V ever since they released the tech demo for frostbite 2…to have 1942/BF:V remastered in this engine would either be the best thing ever, or the worst. To hit that sweet spot we’re all thinking about, they’d have to do a lot more than just port the maps.

      • LT 1STC 09.21.12 at 05:59

even just a re-release of one or two maps on BF3 would be a good idea. and i’m not talking the wake island they did, but something with retro weapons maybe (like that random level of black ops in ww2) vietnam weapons/vehicles wouldnt be too much of a large change from what is already in use in bf3 anyway.

  • Daxtcy 09.21.12 at 02:29

The first three were by my favorite!

  • Matthew1945 09.21.12 at 02:28

I would really instead of those wallpapers be able to get that one of the 10 Year Anniversary with the US Soldier with the M1 Pot Helmet and the BF3 Style “smoke & flames” design that is on it for the Origin Discount.

  • XXVI 09.21.12 at 01:50

    XXVI09.21.12 | 01:46

And according to “KofeeShop”. Please bring the amazing 60th sounds back to chopper and helis !!!!! For example, this was a uniqu feature of BF !!! Somtehing players will remember for it. Collect your experiences of a decade, implement it in a currrent release and be outstanding !!!

    KofeeShop09.20.12 | 22:23

Best LAN parties of my youth… Bring us that back please :)
(no lock, no railed stuff, limited ammos for vehicles… VOIP and bonus if music in vehicles back as in vietnam ;) )
I actually dare you to start a kickstarter for that and watch it going through the roof.

  • XXVI 09.21.12 at 01:27

I begun with BF1942. I was very happy with DC and DCX mod from Dice.Next was BF Vietnam with Eve Of Destruction (EoD) and Point of Existence (PoE) Mod. We loved to play Coop at LAN-Parties. BF 2042 and BF2 was also nice. In BF Bad Company 2 and BF3 o miss something about this former experiences. Armored Kill give me some feeling of that good old times :) Congratulations to your succesfull decade! Never want to miss BF!!

  • Viplanet 09.21.12 at 01:18

I have all series, but I like especially Battlefield Vietnam. And I miss the big boats and Submarines. And the flavour and agility of Desert Combat add-on.

  • Neptimus 09.21.12 at 01:05

BF 1942 is what players wont

Oh battlefield Vietnam, best game ever for me! BC2 vietnam was good but didn’t even come close to the original. Those planes, those hellos, the controlls, just awesome! and when is the PC (where everything started) going to get a remake of the 2nd most epic bf game ever? 1942…. i am still waiting to get something other consoles don’t, to make it up to the pc-gamers ^^

  • Shoeless_Joe 09.20.12 at 22:28

1942 was the first to have the interactive vehicles all over the place. It had the epic Battleships not to mention the Submarine and Torpedo Boats. Vietnam added supply drops, mobile spawn points, and the radio gimick everyone loved. BF2 brought it all together and added Real Voice communication between squad leader, squad mates, and the commander. B2k is a close try but still missing what made Battlefield 2 the best game in the series and the others are not even worth mentioning in the same post.

  • Siphon808 09.20.12 at 22:28

Before I talk about memories I’d like to say that I think it’s lame that the $10 deal is only good on PC. I’ve got BF3 on PS3 and PC, I was going to add it to Xbox today with the special…but no DICE.

I couldn’t drive ten years ago, I had a 8gb hard drive Sony Vaio desktop with a CRT monitor that weighed more than I did. The computer barely ran windows, but still seemed great compared to the Apple 2 we had before. I was an avid counter strike player, thinking I was the most epic run and gun player until all the hacking started.

My friend called me up and said I needed to go to Gamestop (it was something else back then) and check out this new game with him. 64 players online. That was all that ever needed to be said. In the era when the WW2 veterans were being memorialized with films like Saving Private Ryan, we were given games like medal of honor which fell short in giving the open world spectrum that the real conflicts of WW2 took place on.

Utilizing tanks, submarines, landing craft, aircraft, carriers, battleships…battlefield gave a true “war” experience, depending not on unrealistic hip shot “tweak” kills (as experienced currently in the Modern Warfare Series), but actual strategy and team work. I remember having conference calls with friends trying to coordinate battle strategies for maps, calling for backup, directing battleship fire into specific grids on the map.

Battlefield took war games and made it into a war simulation. Strategy and team work is awarded with wins, and the run and gun tweak shooter is penalized for not having a skilled mind.

It’s not a congratulations to DICE, but a congratulations to all of us. These are OUR memories and OUR games.

  • Spentec 09.20.12 at 22:25

By the way Thanks for 10 Years of fun !

Big up for ForgottenHope, DC and Project reality also

  • SlappyTehClown 09.20.12 at 22:23

BlOps II is just knocking off Battlefield. Battlefield 2142 came out a long time ago.

  • mrhandy911 09.20.12 at 22:18

DICE, here is the next part of your franchise. The HELL with BF 4 …

    BF 1942 Redux !!

  • Dimrath 09.20.12 at 22:13

I would like you to add the naval war again… I still remember it from BF 1942. Please, modern naval warfare got so much to show. In my opinion its time for that DLC.

  • sVe70 09.20.12 at 22:10

do a remake of 1942 or make a new ww2 game or a full vietnam game!!! no more modern combat or remake of bf3……!!!

  • PixelPilot 09.20.12 at 22:07

Perhaps a remake of BF 1942 with the new engine. As for a BF3 remake I am quite happy to get another BF3 with new environments etc etc. The one thing I fear is that BF goes the way of CoD Black Ops i.e. into the future. DICE goes down that road with my beloved BF3 and I am signing off.

  • bloeder_kerl 09.20.12 at 21:50

as a scifi-fan i found BF 2142 kinda nice actually… rocket pods to the baseship and taking the reactor… sweet! i also loved the whole design concept of 2142.

  • =NoElite=Firsty 09.20.12 at 21:48

Hook up a Desert Combat mod for Battlefield3! Miss it SOO much! =] Good times!

  • CoSign 09.20.12 at 20:41

Listen to everyone DICE, we all want a remake of BF 1942 with the new engine! We DON’T want a BF3 remake!

  • 8Preacher8 09.20.12 at 20:18

Like someone else said before i WANT BF1942 remade with new graphic engine. No perks just classic tanks ships planes with some new historical maps :)

  • Rendarcan 09.20.12 at 19:56

I always want EL ALAMEIN map on BF3…I think they have to make this classic

    • Spentec 09.20.12 at 22:20

Open Mod Tool Dice Please !

And totaly BANZAI for a BF42 on FB2

  • ChicagoDoughboy 09.20.12 at 19:41

I hope they remake the D-Day map from BF1942 and it would have been awesome if they remade the Vietnam maps from pc when they did the BFBC2 Vietnam maps….

  • ChicagoDoughboy 09.20.12 at 19:39

    BF1942 and BF:Vietnam for pc were BAD @$$ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Smitty454 09.20.12 at 19:25

    BF1945 FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • rangermillzee 09.20.12 at 19:20

a Remake of 1942 with the latest frostbyte engine is what we need!…bring back the old weapons, no perks, no UAV’s, old style tanks, the ships and most of all kharkov and El Alamein.

  • NoNe NL 09.20.12 at 19:14

mm why is the premium pack not € 9,99 incl. btw?

  • sgogeta99 09.20.12 at 18:59

  • RRAY79 09.20.12 at 18:52

Really cool. I like that pic with the submarine. Remember hunting the larger ships with the subs. Was very cool! Why not do an anniversary game, a remake of bf1942 with all the maps we like. El alamein, Omaha Beach, Battle of Midway, Operation market garden etc.. A full remake with the technology of today would be superb! It is time for another WW2 shooter.

  • Split 09.20.12 at 18:31

Miss the Battlefield games 1942-BF2 No recent games can even compare :(

    • Casa_de_Caca 09.20.12 at 18:51

How true……. There are a lot of us old-timers who were excited about BF3 because we were under the impression that it would be a modern, more updated version of BF2. It’s nothing like it. BF3 is bait candy for everyone who plays COD. If they would have put the commander in the game, Im sure there could have been more perks that the commander would have. Then there’s the loss of VOIP, which made playing is squads so much more fun and easier to work as a team.

BF3 is good, in it’s own way, but it will never meet the requirements of the TRUE BATTLEFIELD, we all have played and loved.

      • USBigOil 09.20.12 at 19:17

Yes I agree 1000.8% , and so does most of our clan members. A retrofitted BF3 would be great. Hopefully there is a small group of dedicated DICE veterans that are secretly working on such a gem!
Anyway We keep our BF2 server alive and still have great games in between BF3 sessions. The best thing to happen to BF3 so far was Armored Kill.

      • MAFalorca 09.20.12 at 19:57

Dice shouldn’t change the BF2 gameplay, and the major features, when developed BF3. They try to approach to COD series, and almost kill the BF series game! I said almost only because even with this major changes that I don’t appreciate (many thing like unlocks, changes to controls in jets, jets without 2 seat, no commander, etc), the game was playable, buy NEVER the sequel to BF series!

I hope DICE learn from this “mistake”, and make the next BF game more like the old and greatest BF2. How i miss that game (i only don’t play it because of the actual type of graphics we used to, and BF2 was too old, but playing the game, BF2 give more fun than this new BF3)!

  • aimed87 09.20.12 at 18:23

    BF 1942 was really epic!

    Keep it up! ;)

  • matyriver 09.20.12 at 18:23

BF Vietnam… Such a wonderful sound track and deadly Napalm !

  • OverShift 09.20.12 at 17:57

To Bad i already own every game for the Anniversary sale today.. Maybe tomorrows sale could be 10.00 dollars of battlefield 3 premium..

  • Viral_Pathogen 09.20.12 at 17:46

I really don’t like how they did the maps for team deathmatch in BF3, I thought they did a much better job in Bad Company 2. I really miss some of the maps from BF2 and Special Forces and wish EA or Dice will bring some of them back. I actually re-installed Bf2 & SF two days ago so I could play them.

  • Geesje 09.20.12 at 17:43

what a game it was , still is , am playing it even now …. 2 seater planes and lets dropping bombs muahhh what a laugh

  • Troueur 09.20.12 at 17:38

Remaster the 1942 game as well with frostbite! It sure would make me happy!

  • RICK R0lling 09.20.12 at 17:31

No BF3 premium deal…SOO close! I have been wanting to migrate to PC for some time now but I just can’t buy BF3 PC without AK. Looks like ill have to wait for the next price drop :(

  • SiRWimP 09.20.12 at 17:26

The item you are purchasing is not eligible for purchase using PayPal. We apologize for the inconvenience. (Battlefield 2142™ Deluxe Edition)
good i didnt want to give ea my $$$ anyway…..off to steam to blow my cash, they use paypal!

  • STIJNNNNN 09.20.12 at 17:18

I’ve played all the BF’s playable on PC, and i totally LOVED every single one of them. I got to admit that BF2 just brings back sweet memories every time I talk about it. It could’ve been my age at that time, but BF2 just simply was top notch, hands down the best gaming experience I’ve ever had and will have for a long time. I LOVE BATTLEFIELD <3

  • Vor-V-Zakonye 09.20.12 at 17:15

I would love to see some of maps of BF Vietnam come back in todays graphics. And what would be especially epic, the vehicles with the music!!!! It is the only game i know of which had that, and it was just… well.. only way to describe it would be epic!! I want to rock and roll while i empty my rocket pods on a tank!!

  • Dr Happy Feet 09.20.12 at 17:08

rework of the best battefield ever on frostbite 2 anyone? :)

    • ast00 09.20.12 at 17:10

+1 :D Best idea of the world :-) Today, nobody making good multiplayer games from WW2

  • Liftylym 09.20.12 at 17:07

No advanced weapons, no javelins, no heat seaking missiles. No unbalance. Thats the old sweet battlefield. And cmon, when will you give pc players 128 players in a bf game?

  • Roki11 09.20.12 at 17:04

Bf 1942 was the begin, BF2 give modern era combat, ranks and unlocks system. BF2142 was a view of the future (BF 2143 must return). Bad Company brought destruction in the scenarios and BF3 brought the realistic graphics… Congratulations DICE and follow another 10 years.

  • Darkon X 09.20.12 at 17:04

OMG remake 1942 with those graphics and release it like right now, then shut up and just take my money

  • JustinSaneV2 09.20.12 at 16:57

It’s a good thing I paused to check the price at checkout because EA/Origin is trying to give us the shaft (price jumped back up to $40 at checkout).

  • lament 09.20.12 at 16:56

Sale is broken.. shows full price in the cart.

  • rohbie00 09.20.12 at 16:53

yeah, bring back 1942, maybe called 2.0. this would be awesome! today only four real battlefield maps in BF3, thx armored kill, i want more! the rest is just to small, thats not battlefield like most of us, i think, love it!

  • X-Doosdief-X 09.20.12 at 16:48

Happy birthday 1942.(Battlefield series) The best series of games of all times. I say! Keep up the good work. Ps. To your boss- bonus time. And while you at it what’s for the loyal customer. We have been with you for along time now. Again see you on the battlefield. X-DOOSDIEF-X

  • LordBasset 09.20.12 at 16:47

I only play this game since last summer, and I love it. Congratulations at the 10th anniversary.

  • vitoka79 09.20.12 at 16:38

Keep up the good work DICE.And dont mess up BF4 just because EA wanna bring it on the market two weeks earlier than some COD game.Take your time.

  • NO_FEAR 09.20.12 at 16:29

DICE was one of the first Developers to white-list me as an alpha and beta tester, I have got to beta every game on the PC and PS3. Thank you DICE and Happy Birthday Battlefield!

  • GrieferLord 09.20.12 at 16:25

1942, truely my favorite of the entire series and i still play it today, even though i play mods for it the game had such dynamics that you could do that and completely change how the game felt and the enjoyability of that was grand. If EA does remake 1942 they should do it much like how 1942 was originally modding tools and all. 10 years of battlefield and the game has evolved quite substantially although it seems many still love 42 for what it was and always will be.

As a battlefield fan it was disappointing to see now BF1942 dogtags for BF3, whats up with that? The start of the series has no special dogtag? tisk tisk and shame on you! I don’t see why wake is so popular, although if you as an example bring el alamein back for BF3 it might be a bit interesting with Frostbite’s engine.

  • AUTbigbeat 09.20.12 at 16:16

Grats for 10 Years Battlefield! Played BF1942 online till hour 1 and i remember how much fun it was! go on DICE!

  • BioHazardSperm 09.20.12 at 15:52

The Website shows correctly but ORgin Client shows none on sale for 10.00 .Time to speak to the Origin Dept and get them to start doing things right when you advertise a sale :/

  • BioHazardSperm 09.20.12 at 15:49

“Origin are discounting every PC Battlefield game currently on sale on Origin to just $10″ why is the origin client not showing prices as 10.00 ?BF3 is full retail? It clearly said “EVERY” ?

    • Klossal 09.20.12 at 16:13

This sale is purely conditional. You have to pre-order Medal of Honor: Warfighter through your Origin client in order to be eligible for the discount.

      • Klossal 09.20.12 at 16:15

Wait, sorry, didn’t see the new sale. Battlefield Three has been discounted from $49.99AUD to $19.99AUD including Tax. I am assuming that you will receive a similar percentage discount in your place of purchase.

I’ll remember not to be quite so spontaneous in my replies next time.
        - K

    • [DICE] H Brun 09.20.12 at 16:25

Thanks for pointing this out. Edited the post for clarity:
“Origin are discounting select PC Battlefield games currently on sale on Origin (regional differences will be present).”

We know that Germany are not including Battlefield 3 in this promotion. Are you saying no Battlefield games are price promoted in your territory? Cheers.

  • JHONYAC 09.20.12 at 15:45

origin por favor coloca o Battlefield 1942 pra venda so falta ele para eu completa toda a serie tenho todos o Battlefield so falta o 1942 e também quero volta a joga ele

  • Artful_Dodger_au 09.20.12 at 15:42

Stalingrad, Berlin, Omaha Beach, Market Garden, Bocage, Tobruk, Battleaxe, Kursk, Kharkov, Wake, Guadal Canal, El Alemain and all the rest,…. on the frostbite engine with those simple but brilliant weapons…. bring it back in full HD… it was quite simply brilliant then, and it could be again.
bring back the simplicity, with the awesome complexity of the frostbite engine’… you know you want to….

    • FinnHit 09.20.12 at 16:07

      i agree!!

    • RedDeth69 09.20.12 at 16:09

Agreed, that would be a great idea. A proper 10th anniversary homage.

Go on EA, you know you want to.

    • Wazza106 09.20.12 at 16:23

agreed also, awesome idea. some of these maps were epic and could be again!

  • FinnHit 09.20.12 at 15:37

  • DustPuppy 09.20.12 at 15:18

Battlefield 1942, of course! I’d totally buy a remake of that and Battlefield 2 anyday. BF1942 on the frostbite 2 engine, mmmm…..

  • bpeter289 09.20.12 at 15:08

When you actually try to purchase BF3 or even the other games, the discount doesn’t apply. I went all the way to the last step of hitting the purchase button, but still shows $39.99 for BF3.

Also, the link in this blog is, “holiday-deals-2011.” (Look at the url)
Could this be the source of the problem?

  • GetSum77 09.20.12 at 15:07

remake of bf 1942 on bf3 engine, i would pay for that !

    • szrz 09.20.12 at 15:11

      • rlmfu 09.20.12 at 15:12

OH YES. DICE, make it happen! BF1942/BF2 remake in Frostbite would be awesome! (and a real remake too)

      • RedDeth69 09.20.12 at 16:11

Man, I was so disappointed there was no commander role in BF3. :(

      Me 2!

Anyone remember the air maps in 1942 where you would have to try and sink each others carriers?

The dog fights were insane and so much fun!

  • AnybodykillaNL 09.20.12 at 14:47

Best Shooter ever! Battlefield 1942 Bombing Enemys, Battlefield Vietnam Huey Gunship with Ride of the valkyries on, Battlefield 2 Using stealth, Battlefield 2 Modern combat best PS2 game, Battlefield 2142 Walker war, Battlefield Bad Company destroying stuff, Battlefield Heroes Cartoon killing, Battlefield 1943 WWII all over again! Battlefield Bad Company 2 destroy even more stuff!, Battlefield Play4Free bringin the good times of Battlefield 2 back, Battlefield 3 Destroy everything in great Graphics. Battlefield best thing in Gaming sice 2002! Love it!

  • DarkkerDaze 09.20.12 at 14:46

I used to love shooting planes out of the sky with the ships… And some of the mods were awesome! My favorite mod for 1942 was Eve Of Destruction. Favorite maps were Midway, Wake, and Phillipines. Lucid Zombie represent!

  • Thoran 09.20.12 at 14:42

BF2142 was the best when it came to gameplay, but clearly 1942 is the winner because it allowed Mods like Desert Combat that spawned the whole modern warfare thing, also the airmaps were brilliant with the conquest flags in the air.

  • X4N710N 09.20.12 at 14:35

Ah the good old BF1942:’( I miss the quality of that game so badly. Not the graphics no, the QUALITY!

Full Air and Naval wars (Battle for Midway & Coral Sea), Tactic movement of the invasion fleet (Battle for midway , Invasion of the Phillipines & Wake Island), Real MISSIONS!That u actually have to carry out an objective like destroying the coastal cannons and radar towers. (Battle for Britain, Omaha Beach).

Where the result of the battle was more important then the k/d ratio.
Unfortunely this golden game got lost, and there is no equal to replace it.

And as goes for BF Vietnam, that one was amazing as well, The huey invasion fleet flying the tanks to land.(Not mentioning the “march of the valkyries”playing out loud over the speakers.!)

Please create a remake of those 2, i would be buying with an 100% guarantee.
And yes its black on white now;)

  • anarchiefighter 09.20.12 at 14:33

COMMEONE GUYS DO A REMAKE OF 1942 !! BF 1944 oder something like that it was the best battlefield game ever :D

    • DavidMainguy 09.20.12 at 14:59

Technically BF1943 is the sequel. But it is like what you’d expect out of a $10 arcade game. It’s fun but nothing truly revolutionary or epic.

  • NERDsF1ST 09.20.12 at 14:31

I especially enjoyed the Desert Combat mod for BF1942. Me and my friends played that for years at lanparties and online.

  • RanCorX2 09.20.12 at 14:27

here’s an idea, release 1943 on the pc.

  • dymyea 09.20.12 at 14:17

What i really miss is the ability to drive the boats, shelling the land taking out the other teams aircraft carrier

  • CameronBancroft 09.20.12 at 14:17

I think for the entire week every battlefield game should have double xp including non premium members on BF3

  • SYKOKILLER 09.20.12 at 14:00

Would be awesome if they released mod tools or at least a map editor. Someone might make something as fun as Desert Combat.

  • MiiSummer 09.20.12 at 13:48

Praise to Battlefield Series. Battlefield allows people do more than just run and gun. It takes team work to win these games, and that’s what I love about it :)

    • BLEIPIONIER 09.20.12 at 13:58

yeah but in my opinion all Battlefields after BFBC [including] are too much Gun and run

  • eleonzx 09.20.12 at 13:34

Nice game series, the best tactics ever in an FPS.

Sad to find out not every PC Battlefield game currently on sale is discounted on origin. At least not the ones I don’t have.

  • Twe4ks 09.20.12 at 13:27

I absolutely loved Battlefield 1942, i remember playing it back in the day and had so much fun, it was the first “open world tank/plane tactical” FPS game for me and i have loved the series ever since!

Bad Company 2 is probably the game i have spent most time on however. Countless hours have gone into it, and when Battlefield 4 came out i think it was a great improvement, the guns felt a lot smoother and the sounds are fantastic. I don’t see why some people may not like it, but then again i think there is always something that is not good enough for certain people.

Grats on 10 year anniversary Battlefield and make sure Battlefield 4 is just as good as the rest of the Battlefield series and i am happy :)

  • Gijs Konings 09.20.12 at 13:21

I would like have a Battlefield Vietnam 2. Imagine the flamethrower, the epic music (ride of the Valkyries), Booby traps and jungle environment. Not that I can’t wait for Battlefield 4 but, you know a silent wish..

  • KillahHerb 09.20.12 at 13:21

Please bring BF1942!!! atlease midway where sea, land, and air meets each other. [including the subs]
Vietnam remake could be also a good one [Not bad company2 add-on]

    • Gijs Konings 09.20.12 at 13:23

Midway I loved that map! But it would be blown to bits with the new engine.

  • jbhdk 09.20.12 at 13:18

    I want BF1941 back.
whit all maps an 1913 mod too in new graphic

  • MrLOL 09.20.12 at 13:17

How sad to see a company so proud of its legacy with the battlefield series. But yet they let their publisher walk all over this legacy and churn out games which shun the innovate features of its predeccors, in the name of chasing sales and bad mouthing fellow publisher’s games.

    • Leopardi 09.20.12 at 13:42

well said man, well said… makes you sad thinking how good the gameplay was in 1942, then compare it to today’s CoD hybrid mess…

      • MrLOL 09.20.12 at 13:51

Don’t get me wrong, i enjoy BF3 and have over 400 hours logged.

But it could be so much better if they didn’t shun stuff for fear of putting off he COD / casual crowd. Thinks like flyable AC-130s and Drive able aircraft carriers.

  • SupremeHilary 09.20.12 at 13:16

1942… It established us – the players – such a great new way to play

  • Divaman14 09.20.12 at 12:57

    Put Battlefield 2 on sale!

  • Comandar_Rex 09.20.12 at 12:51

  • Xe_ZoR_1 09.20.12 at 12:49

bf 1942 was so awesome and now ea´s gona mage some nice graphix and totaly ruined gameplay for huge money….. thx for this ea. btw, u also ruined the command and conquer saga!

  • NLsandman 09.20.12 at 12:45

Why did you change so much on the game play of the bf franchise with bf3, the team play and communication system made bf big, focus more on game play instead of eye candy please!

    In Memory of
    The ‘Battlefield’ Franchise

  • Jnsen 09.20.12 at 12:44

Battlefield 1944 please. WWII needs to be brought to Frostbite 2.

  • Dr_freedom_Og 09.20.12 at 12:41

BF1942.. still one of my favs

  • Death1099 09.20.12 at 12:40

BF2 was so much Fun. What happened dice no voip, commander, and much more. Please bring this back in BF4.

    • BackAnd2TheLeft 09.20.12 at 13:08

Completely agree – BF3 seems to have totally lost its way and seems to be no more than Medal of Duty, or Call of Honor. Please can we see a return to the lineage of BF, rather than simply cloning other less interesting run & gun titles. BF2 was/is such an excellent game and it was such a shame to see much of that titles excellent qualities be completely left behind.

  • ViperTheSamurai 09.20.12 at 12:29

Battlefield has been by favorite FPS series since 2 way back when and the Frostbite 2 engine is fantastic. It upsets me when those certain people bash the game and/or it’s developers because they don’t like something. I will always buy and play battlefield regardless of my opinions of EA because it deserves it and has always had a special place in my heart.

    • MLH78 09.20.12 at 12:30

I agree – to some point.
BF2142 was the wicked littlebrother, that just needs to be let alone :)

  • Sgt_Thagesson 09.20.12 at 12:27

Cant u make a remake of some 1942 maps to BF3? like iwo jima, omaha beach, stalingrad, market garden and el alamein? would be pretty nice

    • MLH78 09.20.12 at 12:29

      Omaha Beach – nice one!!
They’d have to make it much bigger though, but nice!

    • Jasua 09.20.12 at 12:34

And the Road To Rome maps… I loved those maps… damn.

  • PTG_Gamblor 09.20.12 at 12:25

Why does it say “$10 or the equivalent” and then prices are listed at £9.99. $10 is £6.17.

  • Poledra 09.20.12 at 12:23

Oh please give us a modtool with Endgame !!! If battlefield had this success it’s thanks to the awesome mods created for BF42 ! Desert combat (wich leaded to BF2 BTW) and least but not last Forgotten Hope !! AND FH2 on BF2 !!! Endless fun !

    • MLH78 09.20.12 at 12:27

And not to forget – Project Reality! :)

      • SleepyTheNinja 09.20.12 at 12:33

What about 2142? Didn’t that start out as a fan mod as well?

        • MLH78 09.20.12 at 12:38

          That i’m not sure about.
But one thing I can tell: It’s not on top of my list – if at all on my list.

You know – it’s how you look at things.
Nothing’s right or wrong in this debate.. If you like it; hell, fine with me :)

  • MLH78 09.20.12 at 12:21

Please.. Give us Battleships, Destroyers, Carriers and submarines back in BATTLEFIELD 3.
I know we have carriers in BF3, but not to control.

There was a special dynamic in BF1942 games, because of the fact, that Carriers (HQs) where moveable, and thus was to search for different places – not a static point on the map, as it is now.

We (I) want that dynamic back again. It was one big part of the BF-era.
    You have killed it :/

  • sk8simone98 09.20.12 at 12:20

A remake of it with Frostbite2 would be so awesome!

  • DanloJr 09.20.12 at 12:19

BF42 in frostbite would have been an excellent way to celebrate 10 years of battlefield.

  • JohnnyBNL 09.20.12 at 12:18

It would be awesome if DICE brings Battlefield 1943 to PC, and make it a true sequel to Battlefield 1942. All re-imagined with Forstbite 2.

  • MLH78 09.20.12 at 12:17

Whistlersmom: FB??? – Try BF instead ;)
    Have a nice one :)

    • MrOliverDK 09.20.12 at 12:19

I’m pretty sure he’s talking about FrostBite 2 enigne

      • MLH78 09.20.12 at 12:28

Now that you say it – I’m pretty sure of that too!
        Thanks pal ;D

  • PBR. Streetgang 09.20.12 at 12:17

I would like to ask Lars why they decided to use Client Side Hit Detection?

  • Whistlersmom 09.20.12 at 12:16

god yes , a BF 1942 with FB 2 engine would be complete awsomness. All the old maps remade in FB 2 , nothing removed only added destruction, sound and graphics. Do it please :)

  • XisoO 09.20.12 at 12:11

Why are there only promo sales on the thins a real bf3 player should already have… Why don’t you guys announce bf4 and start pre sales for a real nice price? Of why not a promo on prenium. (with is in my opinio too expensive)

  • A.Kreikamp 09.20.12 at 12:06

I would like to see back all the maps of 1942 and a new WWII game since 1943 was a complete rip off and nobody likes it.

    so my request is,

Give use a new pollished up bf1942 use fb2 engine and it will be succesfull.

  • lzz-SN1P3Z-zzl 09.20.12 at 12:05

i think dice and EA should bring battlefield 1943 on to ps3 as 1942 is crap 1943 is so much better its the one that started it all so come on dice do whats right and remake 1943

    • Zaiux 09.20.12 at 12:06

You confused the games, 1942 came first

      • lzz-SN1P3Z-zzl 09.20.12 at 12:08

no it was 1943 on the pc came first 1942 came out on the ps3 and xbox

      • lzz-SN1P3Z-zzl 09.20.12 at 12:10

yer sorry my mistake it was 1942

  • Zaiux 09.20.12 at 12:04

What a shame that all we have left from the good ‘ol Battlefield is BF3…
Modern consoles + marketing ruined everything…
BF3 its still better than most of the crappy games you see round nowadays

  • Carbonic 09.20.12 at 12:04

A competition about most rounds played? PC is soooo gonna loose, almost every frickin server is running with 1500 tickets and no way to filter for normal servers.

  • EliteSniperCrew 09.20.12 at 12:03

Please bring out a M1 garand for Veterans in Bf3 it was really good in Bc2

  • agent_harkov 09.20.12 at 12:02

From Battlefield 1942 to Battlefield 3

  • DANaVsKiY 09.20.12 at 12:02

    Battlefield 2142

    • SleepyTheNinja 09.20.12 at 12:32

Some of my fondest BF memories in that game…

  • l-ZETA-l 09.20.12 at 12:00

One of my questions for Mr. Lars would be; Are you happy how the glorious “PC” BF series that started it all has turned out?, and what’s his true feelings being under the EA umbrella, then again he can get fired. How about another type of question like, how many of the original members of DICE are left to this day?.

  • CraziestLemon 09.20.12 at 11:53

BF3 doesn’t deserve anniversary. Client Side Hit Detection?? Common, BF died, BF3 is just a polish turd!

  • NoggxFPS 09.20.12 at 11:45

bf3 WWII mod would be awesome :) miss the good old weapins like M1 oder Thompson :) dont like this hightech stuff -.-

    • agent_harkov 09.20.12 at 11:48

      I completely Agree with you

    • BRamBoNL 09.20.12 at 11:58

Ow yeah, I would like, what did I just say let me rephrase that, I would LOVE a WW II shooter with the graphics and the Frostbite 2 engine we have nowadays.

  • TangledThorns 09.20.12 at 11:44

I didn’t play much of BF:1942 but I did get a lot of time in the Desert Combat mod!

    • Arie 09.20.12 at 11:46

I’ve played both. I really loved the keyboard chopper control in DC.

  • Jawarens 09.20.12 at 11:39

BF1942 in all honor. but nothing beets the part in BF Vietnam when i played my first game and the crew jumped into a hellicopter and Edwin Starr’s War goes of in everybodys speakers.

  • gillounit 09.20.12 at 11:36

A free BF3 map please, it will be the minimum to celebrate this event I think.

  • nazrigamefreak 09.20.12 at 11:36

i still remember playing this.no OP weapon,no cry baby complain, this is true skill to play..i love theme song..as for 10th anniversary i will make it as my ringtone and msg notifacation.HB battlefield!!!

  • Arie 09.20.12 at 11:34

Man I wish there was coming BF1943 or something, just all the same maps and weapons but just a new engine. It would be awesome.

  • deadshot68 09.20.12 at 11:33

Gimme a B-17 with full control and a 5 man crew!

  • EliT RiDeR 09.20.12 at 11:31

  • 92_o_L_L_i_e_92 09.20.12 at 11:27

Guys, 10 years of battlefields, but the 1942 still the best, for all of us !!!
I think they should make a new WWII Battlefield, with attachments for vehicle and guns, oh and the frostbite 2 engine ;)

    • aboso88 09.20.12 at 11:30

YES! I completely agree about a new WWII game with Frostbite 2 although I think Battlefield 2 was my favourite game :)

  • Lee77 09.20.12 at 11:22

It would be soooo nice if next BF could bring us back in WWII…

    • Streef 09.20.12 at 11:25

Yes ! An (huge) DLC pack would do the trick ! Simply adding WW2 guns, like other games do, is an epic fail

    • aboso88 09.20.12 at 11:31

I completely agree! Please dont go futuristic. Use the beautiful FB2 engine and give us (another) great WWII experience!

    • MelonVita 09.20.12 at 13:19

lol I love seeing others wanting a new WWII game on frostbite too

  • BaserapinNZ 09.20.12 at 11:20

ah the days of playing tobruk map with the axis ai set to over 90% fun times!

    “requesting naval support!”

  • KuruttaAkuma 09.20.12 at 11:19

you are so full of shit.

‘To kick off the celebrations, Origin are discounting every PC Battlefield game currently on sale on Origin to just $10 or equivalent in your territory.’

since when is £9.99 the equivalent of $10?

  • R3apZzxX 09.20.12 at 11:16

I miss the 1942, that was the best game ever!

    • flyus747 09.20.12 at 12:13

I totally agree with you mate, had countless hrs of fun in that game and I truly wish taht one day DICE will have a remade 1942 probably Battlefield 1944!

  • Dr.No 09.20.12 at 11:16

  • Avrojet 09.20.12 at 11:14
